OU is 108th in TO … after playing Temple and Houston

We just held NC State to 143 yards and they’re still averaging more than Oklahoma. 🤣
OU will come out all fired up and their crowd will be in it early but they are going to get smoked next Saturday night. And then all of the weak and infirm Vol fans will finally feel comfortable in the fact that Tennessee is a top five program in the nation again.

The only downside is we have people like D4H making the rounds again.

You know better than this. They’ll all say, “Well Oklahoma’s just not any good. Arkansas is tough, they could beat us; let’s not be too confident.” Then after we slaughter the hogs it’ll be “Arkansas is awful. They lost to Ok State. Florida owns us so call me when we beat them. Not gonna get my hopes up.” Then if we beat Florida by three scores, they’ll say “Oh well this is Florida’s worst team in decades, we still haven’t played anybody. Bama’s a whole different story.”

Some people are going to “let’s not get our hopes up” half the season away instead of enjoying the ride.

History says we lose one we shouldn't, 98 was a magical season because we didn't, although we did temp fate a couple of times.

Things rarely play out the way we think they should. That's why we play the games.

Would love for some research type person to look up this stat.
When is the last time the Vols beat a top ten ranked team on the road at night?

Idk off hand. I’ve got to think it’s probably been a while. Possibly even 05 lsu game.

It is weird that they've played so poorly... so they could catch their footing.

However they have not produced a lot of O against a couple pretty bad 0-2 teams. Temple was blown out by Navy this past weekend. Houston was beaten by UNLV in week one.

One of the things I've noticed is that "let downs" by talented teams against lesser opponents are a strong indicator of what kind of HC a team has. It just doesn't tend to happen to good coaches who are 1, 2, or more years into their job.

I believe a lot of people doubted Venables as a program leader when he got the job. They may have been right.

IDK if it was the last but we beat Florida in the swamp in 2001. It was Spurrier's last game coaching the Gaters. Pretty sure they were ranked in the top 10 as that game decided the SEC east.

That game was rescheduled after 9/11 happened.

If my old man memory serves, I think that was a day game.

If it was us, people would be saying we're playing vanilla and saving it for Oklahoma

So “TO” does mean turnover? Some people are saying it’s total offense, but that looks like a turnover if I ever saw one.

Reading some posts after mine, I'm thinking it's probably total offense. But given the uncertainty of the moment, my brain defaulted to turnovers (of the non-football variety).

I watched the recording of Houston / Oklahoma. I’m no Dan Mullen, but I could see Oklahoma struggling to score double digits unless we gift them points via turn overs. I think this is likely a 20-30 point victory. JMO

Vegas is taking notice. The Vols have now become 2.5 point favorites. OU was a 5.5 pt favorite at one point .
