Ouch...UT Knoxville Among America's "Ugliest" campuses?

it's not a library it's a comic book store at bama. they like picture books of all there relatives male or female. cartoon or not.

Dude, Alabama has 3 libraries that are nicer than hodges. Next. Classic designs stand the test of time. Ayers is still beautiful, the new music building will look outdated in about 7 years. Walk up Lake Loudon Rd and count how many different colors of brick and concrete you see. A little consistency would be nice.

LOL. No.

But did ya'll hear about the library at the U of Alabama burning down?

Yeah, it was terrible. They lost both books.

Hey, it's not funny! One of them hadn't even been colored in yet.

PS. Yeah, UT campus is rather ugly, but Hodges ain't why.

UT is a lot more then just a campus, as mentioned its the Hill, Neyland Stadium, the Tennessee River, the Smoky Mountains, and so much more. Although our campus may lack to other schools and Universities, no one compares to what we have at our disposal, or what we can see in a short drive. I have always said the problem with UT's campus was its a university built around a city, not a city built around a university like most other schools.

Probably a fair comparison is UT to SC or LSU, mavbe even Vandy.

What other campus has its own Boathouse? A River named after the Football Team? And Mountains named after their Mascot?.... Yeah. Its pretty ugly. What an expression. Pretty Ugly?

What other campus has a HILL. I slipped and fell on my ass to many times climbing them ice clad steps in February on my way to that 7:50 AM Calculus Class. Its Special. Sure I was half drunk but I still aced it. Not saying I'm smart. Yeah. I was stupid. Who schedules a 7:50 AM on the HILL in February.

I had back to back classes on time at the Harris Bldg (I think that's the name of it...the last bldg on the strip on the left) followed by a hike to McClung Museum. That sucked.

Back to back classes, one on The Hill and the next on the Ag Campus. I lost a freshman 15 instead of gaining haha.

BS! A beautiful place!!! I love the view from the hill!

WHAT view from the hill. In the late 70's it was awesome. Gets uglier every year. Used to be some grass to sit on in the spring and fall to take a siesta.....all of that is gone and filled with concrete and asphalt.

UT could sure enhance the beauty of the campus by plowing up the parking lot across from Neyland and turning this into a courtyard with trees and grass. Use that for tailgating in football season. Replace the parking with another parking garage down by the baseball field.

After my freshman year I never scheduled a class before 940.

Beauty is the eye of the beholder. It will always be a slice of heaven to me. As long as they consider it ugly maybe they will stay away.

The Hill is beautiful. Ayers is beautiful.

It's prettier than it used to be but UT needs to just model every building like Ayers and plant some trees.

+1... This is true... everything should be built with the Ayers hall theme with the old red brick.

One of the most beautiful sights on campus is now gone... the view of the Hill from the stadium with the brick "UT". Use to love that cannon go off when we scored a TD.

My undergrad college is always on the "most beautiful" lists (Sewanee), but I never thought UT was ugly when I was there for grad school. The inside of Neyland on game day has always been one of my favorite views!

If only they had classes in Neyland

Next to Knoxville the campus looks OK but only because Knoxville is so butt ugly.

Oh no! I think Knoxville is actually a really pretty town. It's definitely getting better, too. I just got back from my first visit in several years, and I was really impressed with all the renewal downtown. And the surroundings, with the huge trees and hills and the Smokies right there, are pretty great. I grew up in an area that is really flat and dry, so I always thought the rivers and trees and *green* were pretty awesome.

Dumb post. That building is awesome.

No, that building is not awesome. It looks like a Soviet bloc era apartment building. Oh look below! It's the humanities building next to the new music center!!

Actually, that's just another nice setting ruined by Soviet bloc buildings. Only that one was the in the Soviet empire.

I'll give UT credit where it's due: it has a great student body, and I'd rather send my kids there far moreso than some of these campuses infested with actual communists as opposed to UT, which is only filled with communist buildings.

If you are looking for a nicer looking music building, drive down 40 to Vanderbilt. Blair School of Music takes a modern style and actually looks nice. I'm not a big fan of modern architecture, but it's at least presentable.

UGA's is nicer, too. See what I mean?
