Our first round matchup could be Ohio State at home.

I think the committee flips us and OSU. They’ll want two big ten home games in the first round.
It’s possible but I think our BVS fanbase doesn’t understand how bad that loss was for Ohio State. The committee has shown in the past that late season losses and home losses have a huge impact on your ranking.

I’m up in the air about it. Committee did drop Georgia from 3 to 12 for losing to Ole Miss who was a top 15 team. They SHOULD drop Ohio State a hell of a lot for losing to a 5 loss Michigan at home as a 3 touchdown favorite. Not drop them out of the playoff but should drop in the 9-10 range.

I think the committee has weighed what quality wins you have more than how bad your losses are, and they’ll say Ohio state has two great wins (even though that’s debatable) while we have only one. Also, they’re not likely to view the Michigan loss as badly as it deserves to be viewed bc of brand bias; Texas got credit for their Michigan blow out all year

I think you’re right op. Look at the other three locked in hosts.

Penn State/Oregon
ND
Texas / UGA

Oregon most likely beats Penn State. So Penn State will host. ND will host. That’s two northern hosts and one southern one. I can see them wanting to balance that with us hosting over OSU

The committee said the same thing last year. UGA lost in the SECCG and Bama was in the playoffs and UGA was left out.
If Penn State beats Oregon or Georgia beats Texas they will just swap rankings. Idk what happens if Clemson or UNLV wins their conference championship. That could change some of the lower rankings but I doubt it changes our ranking if we get 8. It might affect 10-12 though.
