Our first round matchup could be Ohio State at home.

Texas and UGA are hosting, they won’t let 3 SEC teams host.
3 SEC teams aren't hosting for the simple reason that either Texas or Georgia will win Saturday and get a bye to the Sugar Bowl. If somebody else (Bama, Ole Miss or South Carolina) happens to sneak in, they will not host, they will be the 10 or 11 seed at best.

The Vols being higher than the Buckeyes in BOTH the Coaches & AP is a positive sign from a perception perspective. The initial climate is that we should be ranked above them. Since the committee has largely done “copy-paste” from the AP, this is big.
Vols most likely Playoff Opponent
OSU falls behind Vols and no more movement= 9-OSU @ 8-Vols
OSU doesnt fall behind Vols and no more movement= 9-Vols @ 8-OSU
Texas whips Dawgs OR Oregon whips Penn St.= 10-Indiana @ 7-Vols
Texas whips Dawgs AND Oregon whips Penn St.= 11-B12 winner @ 6-Vols

Nevermind, what was I thinking? The people on the principle national sports network with millions of viewers have no influence. The seeds are more likely to work out according to the wishes of random VN posters.
It was a question. Be more sensitive.

I think the committee has weighed what quality wins you have more than how bad your losses are, and they’ll say Ohio state has two great wins (even though that’s debatable) while we have only one. Also, they’re not likely to view the Michigan loss as badly as it deserves to be viewed bc of brand bias; Texas got credit for their Michigan blow out all year
agree

Oh c'mon, it was a smart azz question and I gave you a smart azz answer. No hard feelings though.
It wasn't really but ok. I haven't watched any playoff shows nor pay attention to what the committee says as far as their process. I just don't get into all that and wait to see how it shakes out.

Well, I'm afraid OSU will be pumped after........"after game festivities between OSU n MI" resulting in $100.000 fine for each school...........
But, I believe in our Vols at home....... GFBO!!!!!!!!!!!

Pretty good break down percentages are very high that it will be Ohio State. Yeah Indiana is the next most likely opponent.

I'd rather face Indiana in the 1st round, but OSU isn't a terrible draw. They're basically Alabama.

I feel like we feed into that way too much. We have 3 weeks to get ready for this game. If we ain't fired up ready to face whatever is in our way we will lose. Come out ready to go and we have a good opportunity to beat anybody

Right now, Bama is coming to Knoxville. Will that change? Don’t know.
If we play anyone from the SEC. First playoff appearance with 12 teams they shouldn’t be pairing any conferences in the first round.

I was a historical out of conference match up.

Home or away. Give me ND, Ohio State, Boise State, Oregon.. really anyone but a fellow SEC team.

How is this right? Both Michigan and Ohio State players and coaches participated in a literal riot on the field. After the full-on brawl, players and coaches left the field bloody and at least one police officer was injured. The police had to use pepper spray to break it up. So, the Big 10 fines each school $100K and says that’s the end of discussion. No further comment. Not one suspension or further disciplinary action taken! Now imagine the shade the National media and the Big 10 would throw if it had been two SEC teams.

Disgraceful. I hope the Big 10 loses every game they play.
