I would guess black coach. You can look at a lot of post where words get left out.
I was simply commenting on the possibility that a black guy might have an advantage in recruiting black players. Not a particularly groundbreaking or outrageous ideaYeah, but can he just be a coach first, and he happens to be black / AA?
When you hire on demographics, you are not hiring based on results / resume, you are hiring based on skin color.
While I get the "Rooney Rule", IMO it has done more harm than good. Win, and the jobs will find you, regardless of your skin color.
With where we are now, how long until we have special rules for Hispanic, Native American, Asian, and eventually transgender hiring guidelines?
If / when we do, I expect the "Washington Football Team" to be first in line to hire a completely unqualified head coach who checks all the right political boxes. Hence guaranteeing 3 more years of a top 5 draft pick.
How many bad hires have we made? Appears we just made another. Enjoy your football season hoping the new Coordinator can make it at the UT head-coach academy. Blind sheep
Meant to type he’s a black guy but I guess I forgot the guy part oh well. You seem particularly offended which I find odd.
Meh. We’ve sucked for a decade and a half but expect championships, just fired a guy and are making him sue to fight for the buyout, and we’re about to get NCAA sanctions. Call it hazard pay.Elliot is not a bad hire but he'd not be a primo hire either more meh. If you pay him $8 million a year you're buying a Chevy for the price of a Mercedes.
I want the best person as well. I don’t care about race I want to win games. I do think that being a successful black coach might might be an advantage in recruiting. It’s just speculation on my part. Elliot is not my first choice but he’s certainly not my last either. Think he’s got significant upsideI'm offended by any job search or hire where the intent is not to find the best qualified candidate, regardless of ethnicity, gender, religion, political affiliation, or whatever...and must meet certain "guidelines" in order to be approved.
Be good at what you do, and the good jobs will find you, regardless. If that offends you, then I find that to be odd. But it does fall completely in line with the current social equality climate, so...
Maybe you're right. I'm the odd man out here.
Go Vols.
A championship head coach has to start somewhere... I don’t understsnd how some people automatically hate this hire when he’s never lost a game as head coach before. We don’t know til we know!
