Our WR Class

“I’m looking at Auburn, Oregon, LSU and Oklahoma,” Reed says. “That’s for right now. I could add schools to that.”

I don't think we got cut until tonight, we were never a big factor for him, though.

Don't fool yourself and put Prater anywhere near Calvin Johnson's level. He's not even close. The closest player to that is the Rogers kid that's going to Georgia. We're talking Prater and Julio.

That's an insane comment. Rogers? He's far from a for sure thing at the next level.

Prater is the real deal and has the chance to make a Julio Jones-type impact immediately on whichever team he chooses. I shy away from comparing HS guys to guys that have proven themselves at the college or especially NFL level, but this guy has all the tools to be a great one. You are selling him way short because you are speaking out of your butt again. You really don't have a clue how good Prater is compared to Julio at the same level. In fact this is probably your BS Alabama player bias rearing it's ugly head again.

I think that UT is getting a huge upgrade in talent at WR over the next couple of seasons. Right now the roster only has 2 4* WRs (G Jones and Warren, even though he was a TE). Everyone else is a relatively unheralded 3* recruit. In the 09 class this staff got 2 4* WRs (3 if you count Teague who might end up at WR or DB), and in this class we already have 2 4*s in Milton and Ambles. This staff has upgraded our WR corp substantially in just 8 months. I know stars aren't everything, but I think these new players can take UT back into contention. All we need now is a QB and a couple more OLs, and our offense will be a force again.

Was talking more from an athleticism standpoint. But Julio is good at of all places Alabama. That's saying something considering the QB he played with. Also Julio played against better competition in the preps than Prater. And if you want to compare at the HS level go ahead. You'd take Julio any day of the week. Prater will be good but he has to add some strength to his frame.

I am a Bama fan I think Prater can be an impact player at the next level, but he is not Julio, nor built like him. He is more of themold of Green at UGA. So either way a great player for ever picks him up. Julio had a great year in an offense with a QB that really didn't throw the ball alot and running the ball was 1st. He still had 900+ yards while being double teamed most of the time. Dont get me wrong because Green had better overall numbers for the seasons, but Green like Prater not the same frame as Julio. Julio's biggest asset was after he caught the ball and defenses tried to bring him down.

Kyle Prater = depends on whether or not he is a Vol (the evaluation depends entirely on choice of school) If he is a Vol I will compare him to Calvin Johnson.

Julio is probably the best WR in the country outside of Dez Bryant. He may not have had the best numbers, but that was on a power rushing team, where he was often the only WR on the field, and he was in bracket coverage with a CB and Safety almost every play. With JPW throwing him the ball.

After watching these two prospects that have become verbals (Ambles and Milton), I think we need a speed guy. Even if we don't get Prater we'll be okay with 6'2 and 6'6 in the redzone. Now we need a pure burner. Who do you guys see filling that role?

Nu'Keese. You don't have to take a burner every year

It's not good to have only one speed guy. You see what D.Moore's injury has done to our WR corps. We have no proven deep threat. We need at least three explosive guys on the roster. Milton and Ambles are plenty fast but we need another pure speed guy.

well teague could fill that this year, with injuries, but i dont see us getting more than 4 WR this class, especially if its ambles, milton, cobbs, and prater

I think we could end up with 4 WRs. Take Milton and Ambles, then Cobbs as an ATH and play him wherever he is best, and take a speed guy like Brantley or Meline...

yea i guess i could see that , LV you know anything about shakim phillips, and his interest in us, and our interest in him?

We didn't make his final 8 so there must not be much interest. Alot of people think his rating is way too high...

I've got a feeling that unless we plan on moving Teague that we won't take but 3 WRs in this class.

I'm just saying in 2010-11 season if the verbals hold up it would be: G.Jones, Moore, Richardson, Teague, Ambles, Milton, and mystery verbal Number 3. That's a lot of competition.
