Outcoached

I think it is more of a player not executing issue. We are a horrible offensive team. Last I checked, you have to score to win.

Any offensive scheme that is heavily dependent on the 3pt shot of our happy band of bricklayers, is a bad plan. I'm too depressed to go rewatch yesterday's game and today's game in order to count the number of OPEN and we'll set up shots that we clanked off the rim. Nearly every single thing we have been doing for the past 7 or 8 years has been awesome. And then we get the shots we want (anyone would want) and can't throw it in the ocean! Rinse and repeat.
CRB has a lot of dials to tinker with this year. We are different and have a lot of options to harness. But, we have GOT to recruit some shoots going forward AAANNNDDD develop their accuracy once here. This crap is going to bite us again this March no matter how good the rest of the team is.
How can SV simply be a worse shooter than when he arrived 5 years ago? JJJ has improved tho. How is it that we bring in 2 xfers who instantly ate considered our top shooters? Although Gainey stunk it up again today.
Rant over.

We are 6 games in…are you going to suggest SV continues to shoot like this?

SV and Gainey were fine from 3 today…ZZ and Knecht were not.

Tennessee has some of the best talent and depth this year, better than what they have had over the last decade, however, other than Grant, Admiral and Pons, players are not improving beyond their arrival skill set which is concerning, seems like Barnes players are very one dimensional, defense comes first and running into Purdue and Kansas, you see the skill set complete basketball players have to have to play at a high level night in and night out.

It's the kids with the full skill set that become the playmaker on offense and defense, who can pass, dribble, rebound, shoot at distance, score in the mid range and around the rim, make free throws as well as play defense and grab rebounds on both ends of the court.

Tennessee's players are very talented athletes, however, looking at the Kansas and Purdue rosters, those teams had the more complete basketball players and probably why they won the games.

We simply got outcoached. Kansas drew up plays to get their best player to ball when they needed to get out of their droughts and needed to get him the ball. We just ran around and jacked up threes. Also got to rebound much better
It is a typical Barnes team that plays extremely hard on defense but cannot shoot the basketball. Good ball movement but they often pass up open shots until late in the shot clock and throw up a brick because no one else would. Where do guys improve? James is a 5th year senior and he only took 10 shots both games and scored a total of 7 points. Ziegler took 17 shots in both games and scored a total of 5 points. Do they ever practice shooting the ball?

It doesn't upset me because I've come to expect it. It would make it more interesting for fans to see new and different players that can't shoot. Let's see more of Carr, Phillips, Jefferson, Estrella and Dillione when he gets back. The most satisfaction that I've gotten so far in 6 games is watching Gainey and Knecht score some points before they get the offense coached out of them which is inevitable.

If this talented roster has any real offense in it, Rick Barnes is not the one to exploit it.

The offensive in the 2nd half got shut down by Kansas. They gave Tenn no easy shots inside the arc and forced poor 3 pt attempts.
