I’m not concerned 6 games in and getting beat away by #1 and #2 team in nation. We have 2 new impact players who have looked good and we’ve got 2 players that have slowly worked back into lineup after being hurt (ZZ) or have been away from team (Santi) due to family issues. After last couple years, most have said we need to peak at right time of year. I think this early tournament will help in this regard. We still have room to grow together as team.A lot of sunshine pumpers in denial about what they witnesses this weekend floating around in here. I think the team can and will get better but we have a long ways to go.
Offense wasn’t the problem that year. Again, the Durant argument is just ignorance. They played 5 freshmen and two sophomores. Durant was the first unanimous freshman player of the year. They were 6th at KenPom in offense and 92nd on defense. It was a Calipari team before Calipari did it, and only three players were top 30 recruits.Year of Durant and 3 other NBA draftees he did exit r32. I am superstitious but still trying to believe he can actually develop an offense that makes use of all that talent this season.

Our level of play down the stretch in the SEC schedule will determine it. Not a one and done crap shoot. If the NCAA tournament was setup properly, I would agree with you. Most of the P6 conferences are tough.Winning the regular season title in any of them merits elite status, at least to basketball puristsOur level of play in March will determine that, not this week, but the team did have the look of an early exit team during this tournament.
Because he wouldn't be a great fit in Tennessee. He is from Jersey, played at Seton Hall, and never coached anywhere outside the northeast. All of his ties are up north. It just doesn't make any sense for him to leave UCONN to come somewhere that might as well be another planet in relation to where he is from. And UCONN would pay him whatever it took to keep him.Why couldn’t we hire Dan Hurley? Hurley is making the same amount of money as Barnes after receiving a pay raise - post national title win..
Sorry. Just noticed this. There are several posters on here that absolitely can't handle any kind of negative opinion whether it's factual or an extreme exaggeration. They lose their crap and start coming up with lame excuses for poor play. Sometimes the team just plays bad and every team has weaknesses. For the life of me I can't understand why a fan is so insecure they can't handle a discussion about it. I guess it takes all kinds.So...pls specify the "sunshine pumping" so I can understand what denial you are referring to. There are obviously issues which need to be addressed (e.g., rebounding, tempo, getting to the line, etc.) which tend to get exposed early in the season and especially against Top 5 teams who we played both teams very closely while our All SEC PG struggled mightily as he shakes off the rust and our other All SEC shooter (SV) did not really show up until the last game.
I don’t see a lot of guys defending our players / coaches on a particular play or game decision. I do see lots of guys stand up for our players / coaches when a poster says this player / coach sucks and shouldn’t be on our team. Many of the constant complainers have an extremely low basketball’s iq and are drive bys who only stop in to be toxic. Personally, I think they get off pretty light on here.Sorry. Just noticed this. Your talking about the drive bys after a loss. Most of the regulars don't say players suck and such. Maybe, the occassional vent post on the game thread. The game thread seems to be the place where we dump our overreaction. We want to fire the coach when we are down 4-0 and two minutes in and we are winning the national championship when we are up 6-4 a minute later.
It's like some of you don't understand the fact that we aren't going to win every game. It's also tiring that some of you only post to complain and point out weaknesses. Instead of pointing out why you think we may lose, you never make a point of expanding on our strengths. The other poster is spot on about the low basketball IQs. "Rick Barnes is a sweet sixteen coach" is about as ignorant as it gets. I know you didn't make that comment, but several have and only show up after a lossSorry. Just noticed this. It’s really sad when our own players have to take some of these ignorant posts on here as ammunition to defend their play. The comments are more than opinions, they’re often ugly and distasteful. I saw one a few days ago that described the team as “Rick Barnes and their merry band of bricklayers.” I’ve seen others that are just mind-boggling classless. It's like some of you don't understand the fact that we aren't going to win every game. I would struggle to come up with more than maybe a couple posters who would fit the category of not handling factual, negative opinions (and, yes, the travel excuse was weak sauce and was played up as too much of a factor). In comparison, the number of posters making extreme exaggerations is quite high and, frankly, these should be met with ridicule and disdain. Why would you include logical, reasoned responses to exaggerations as "sunshine pumping"?Sorry. Just noticed this. Now we're blaming jet lag??? Didn't the other teams have to travel there too??It’s not just the sitting in a small seat for 2 VERY LONG trips and the jet lag having a physical and mental impact. There's also the nearly 20 hours of traveling cutting into practice and preparation plus the disrupted schedules. But anybody that wants to ignore it and blast the team with the usual tripe, have at it.
Of course it was a bit disruptive but you have to overcome that small adversity...if I were going to point to anything as to why we lost it would be our piss poor play in the 1st half which wasn't helped any by Tobe being out. It’s not just the sitting in a small seat for 2 VERY LONG trips and the jet lag having a physical and mental impact.
