Outside of Bama and UGA this may be our toughest game left

Kentucky has Mincey. That game is circled for a few guys. You don’t want a bad Oline vs an elite dline with motivation to embarrass a cat. Their line is bad our crowd noise and dline will live in their nightmares after that game. Arkansas has a much better chance than Kentucky imo to make it a game. We should blow the doors off both these teams.
I like the way this squad looks--big fast. However, until they show they can "blow the doors off " of a real SEC team I will reserve evaluation of how they will stack up with Ga Bama. We have not seen a real offense threat to our secondary or real SEC defensive players. Oklahoma is still one year removed from no defense Big12.
They need to be able to protect Nico and defend pass game against -- as Holtz would say "players that got SEC scholarships"
See Ole Miss last week when they played "first SEC game"
It is a different game

Look at the years where we've supposedly been soo much better than them. How many times were we actually that much better than them and still lost? The answer may surprise you.

It appears that nonsensical whipped football fan affliction (that I won't call by the name you kids call it), may still be afflicting you. Tennessee has not really been a good football program in the last 18 years or so. Not sure how y'all expected so much winning when the team was not good. GoVols 🍊

I agree with this mostly but there were several games both in the Swamp and at home Vols were the better team and still found a way to lose, Not a believer in curses but there was no legit reason for losing some of those games unless it was in the players heads they couldn't beat them. Even with the 98 win at home I don't think Vols were the better team. Just a strange rivalry.

This game and KY, for different reasons. But, if we take care of business we'll be ok. If we don't we could be in for a dog fight...another prime time away game hostile environment, so anything can happen. On one hand, I suspect JH may be somewhat conservative b/c away game, etc, and hard to risk giving them a short field or have mistakes give them hope...but, if we're able to come out aggressive and get on them early, and play solid D, I think it will be a rout.
Arkansas is ranked 14th in the SEC in pass D - we might play conservative but Nico is going to throw the ball more than against Oklahoma. We need good pass protection from the OL so we utilize all receivers and stress their D. Nothing more dangerous than Sampson with the ball out in space.

If both starting OTs go down again then maybe.... maybe. Arkansas isn't OU and especially when it comes to defensive athletes. Anything can happen on a given Saturday but we need to stop overestimating what Arkansas is. They're 3-2 against a schedule of similar strength to that of UT's. The Hogs are about to face a D on a whole different level than the ones they've played so far... and if you take away their FCS cream puff they haven't been that great. They're 10th in the SEC in scoring while UT is 1st against FBS opponents.

Anything can happen but if I gambled I would take the Vols to cover the spread. Heupel will outcoach Pittman. Arkansas doesn't have the horses UT does.

No matter how bad a train wreck Florida has been for the rest of the season, Tennessee has always been their best game of the year. FLorida fans may act like they don’t care about Tennessee and it’s not a rivalry game in their eyes but that program always plays different against the Vols. They expect to beat Tennessee every year.

I know this sounds crazy with a line of 13.5 - 14 points, but, as of now, this Arkansas game is the one we are most likely to lose (according to projections and betting lines) of all of the games we have left.

Right now we are definitely double digit favorites in every other game. This speaks to not only the dominance of our beloved Vols but also the weakness of our remaining schedule. You could argue that Kentucky is better than we initially thought but we'd still be a big favorite at home. And outside of Georgia, our only road game left after this one is Vandy.

Having lived through nearly two decades of mediocrity, I'm trying to take some time to enjoy being a top-level team again.
If the team wasn’t coming off a bye I would look at this as the classic trap game. A night game on the road is always tough in this conference. Pittman is also on the hot seat so their players might play more inspired for him. But I think as long as they avoid the careless turnovers I can’t see them losing. Fayetteville has been a house of horrors for UT since I’ve been a fan so part of the nervousness is BVS

Kentucky is getting no respect from the media/Vegas, therefore they are dangerous. They do not suck.

They already have two losses though which is why they’re not getting respect.

You can’t just overlook that.

See my post above. We're our Kentucky to them, no matter how much better we are, they seem to beat us. I don't get it.

I remember watching us get beat in either the 96 or 97 season (lost both) I can’t remember if it was Jesse Palmer or Doug Johnson but after the game they interviewed him and he said Tennessee can’t beat Florida and will never be able to beat Florida. Hated that guy.

Yes. Hope our guys are focused on Arkansas and not by some chance thinking about Florida.

Upset Saturday is trying to rear its head.
