Did I just hear this...
an interviewee, in an exchange with Bob Ley, just said
Turner Gill and Charlie Strong are not Head Coaches, because they have white wives...

he said that two coaches in the sec said this.. i would really love to know who the two were... if i had to guess id say Steve Spurrier and Rich Brooks

The logic of saying hiring Chizik over Gill is racist is severely flawed. Hiring Chizik over any air breathing creature is a bad move.

Gene chizik went 0-8 this year without playing the best three teams in the big 12. I don't get that hire. 5-19 over two seasons. Chizik's agent deserves a big christmas bonus, what a sell job he did.

From all indications no. ESPN is now saying coaches around the SEC are claiming it is because Gill's wife is white. While race may have played a hand in this on some level, I think that's stretching it a bit far. What is crazy about the whole thing is how even Auburn fans hate the hire. Chizik is on an extremely short leash if you ask me.

He's not only getting the SEC, he's just taking the highest paid coaches from around the country. I wonder how big of a donation he annually gives UT

Auburn hired somebody they can fire immediately and throw under the bus at any time without fear of pissing anybody off.

From what I've heard about Chizik he knew who's rear end to suck up to when he was at Auburn. Plain and simple he kissed the right arses when he was at Auburn and he wasn't going to command a lot of money. He will be easily let go when better candidates (who are truly interested) come along.

the funny thing is, i definitely remember chizik being a "hot commodity" in the early/mid part of this decade.

event still, it seems like a huge stretch. unless this was the guy they wanted all along, and it wasn't, this is a reaction hire because their list got dwindled down pretty quickly.

can you imagine trying to recruit if you were him right now?

Bad hire. Worse comment. Why does everything have to be racist? If AU thinks Chizik is the better fit, who cares what color he is?
