Overrated TV Shows

I didn't necessarily mean it was entirely funny because of Fallon but i liked when they had all the old sketches during his time, some of his stuff was funny to me. Mainly
said him because people know who he is, more than the others. The only things I've ever laughed at since then were the Justin Timberlake sketches. NOTHING beats the good ole days of Farley, Sandler, Spade, Schneider; and then Ferrell, Hammond, Oteri. It's been down hill since then.

i agree. i was not trying to blast you there, but i thought you were trying to make an argument that fallon was the standard for snl comedians. the show as a whole was almost on the chopping block until the ferrell, oteri, shannon, etc. era came about. that to me was one of the last great groups of comedians to come through that show. they worked very well together.

nice choices. I was under the impression that these were supposed to be funny shows. they're not.

The Daily Show was great in the beginning before Stewart tried to make it a legit news program.

Saturday Night Live is definitely overrated now. After Jimmy Fallon left it became so stupid. I miss the old days of SNL.

Yeah, but the shorts are off the hook.

I'm On a Boat!

As for Seinfeld, I like it. I can usually turn on an episode anytime and be thoroughly entertained. It's not overrated in the least bit IMO.

Couldn't agree more.

I've seen every episode of Seinfeld and many episodes I've seen upwards of 30 or 40 times. Still, the show never gets old. TV will never get better than Seinfeld.

Ah, the old days of SNL: Laraine Newman, John Belushi, Jane Curtin, Gilda Radner, Dan Aykroyd, Garrett Morris and Chevy Chase. Great stuff.

Sigh... I even googled "Seinfeld overrated" and lots of people seem to agree. Most of the Seinfeld fans resorted to "are you 12?", "are you under 16?", "are you stupid?", "you just don't get it", "you're an idiot" and so on. There is something wrong with people who get pissed off just because you don't agree with them about a TV show. Why they are so offended by it is beyond me. I think the show is funny but I still think it's overrated. I'm guessing people acting like that are part of the reason I think the show is overrated. Clearly those fans take it way too far. Also, I always thought Jerry Seinfeld was kind of fruity and that his stand up was terrible.

I get it that some people don't really enjoy Seinfeld. It's not that they're "too stupid" to get it, it's just not necessarily everyone's cup of tea. Personally it's my favorite TV show of all time. I can't imagine a funnier character than George Costanza ever being commited to film. Like others have said, there aren't many shows that you can sit down and watch an episode that you've seen numerous times and still laugh at it like it's the first time, but Seinfeld delivers that for me.

As for Jerry's standup, don't just judge it off what you see in the opening bit on the show. If you ever get a chance to go see him live, don't pass it up. I went to see him a couple years ago in Knoxville, not with great expectations for the actual comedic routine, but mainly just because I wanted to say I'd seen Jerry Seinfeld. However, his act was great. It was WAY funnier than the few minutes you typically see to introduce episodes of the show. He interacted well with people in the audience during the show, and even took several questions from people after he had finished his standup. An all around great experience.
