There is a special gene inherited by Southern women that somehow passed me by that makes them great at fixin' up meals for special events. I consider myself a pretty decent cook, but timing on extravaganzas is not my super-power!Did all the shopping for Thanksgiving this morning. Everything is covered! Also got what I need for church family lunch Sunday. Making deviled eggs tonight, and I'll heat up the green beans Sunday morning, then put them in the crockpot.
Still have a lot to do today since we'll be gone all day Saturday.
I drive myself (and mostly my husband) crazy because I go bananas when I take on something big. There is a special gene inherited by Southern women that somehow passed me by that makes them great at fixin' up meals for special events. Also, there's never enough available space in the fridge if I DO cook ahead. So there!
My mom has that fridge problem. It's playing tetris finding space for the wine. There is a special gene inherited by Southern women that somehow passed me by that makes them great at fixin' up meals for special events. Now that you put it that way, it is kind of ridiculous to have a freezer full in our garage for two. But I shop meat sales and then shop our freezer for what to cook next.We have accumulated over time the regular fridge in the kitchen, a narrow but REALLY useful freezer in the basement (the only one that would fit down the basement steps), a mini-fridge with a mini-er freezer that I had in my office during my working days, and a (according to the label) wine cooler that doesn't do a whole lot of anything but is useful for stacking beer in before transferring a few cans at a time to a real fridge.
I'd kill for a second honest-to-gosh fridge though.
Note: all this is for two people, which is ridiculous. But when you cook 99% of the time from scratch, it's kinda where you are...
