'17 PA CB Lamont Wade

We haven't landed him yet, but I've been on record on here saying I feel really good about where we stand and that I have gut feeling that we land him. And I was criticized for it but now as things are taking shape everyone's pre booming lol

Premature booming is a serious problem :)

Potential clairvoyance noted.

“It was a real good visit. Real good game to watch, too, so good experience,” said Wade, who's ranked the nation's No. 47 overall prospect and No. 5 cornerback in the 247Sports Composite for the 2017 class. “I was there from, like, 7 in the morning, 8 in the morning ’til after the game. ... It was just rocking, as usual. It was a good environment.”

“It was a real good visit," Wade said. "Everything was real good about the visit. I went around campus, got to see the Haslam (Business Building) and the business facilities and the places I would be for tutoring and stuff like that, so it was real good. It was a real good visit. "A win is a win," he said. "I just talked to (Tennessee freshman quarterback) Jarrett (Guarantano) after. He just said, ‘Don’t worry about it. You can come down here and take over the next couple years,’ and just stuff like that.”

“I just really, really like Tennessee," he said. "I like the environment down there. I like their coaching staff. I like how Coach (Butch) Jones runs stuff down there. The coaches are real cool. The players can back up Coach Jones’ word. The players at Tennessee, they say he’s a real good dude and everything.”

“I talk to Coach Jones a lot," Wade said. "Coach Jones, he texts me every other day. I talk to Coach Ollie a lot. We’re just relationship-building. We just talk about anything. Coach Jones just said I have a real good chance of coming in and playing early. Coach Martinez said the same thing. With (senior cornerback) Cameron (Sutton) leaving out, that’s going to be open, so they’re all saying I’d have a good chance of coming in and playing early.”

Planning to make his decision on Dec. 16 and enroll early in January. He plans to take all 5 of his OV's at this point, and he will be back in Knoxville for the UF game.

Plus the Bama game as well. The Bama game is actually his OV.

He knows that next year we will have a Qb who can deliver the ball to receivers. The passing game will be alive and well next year which will open up the running game. Hopefully, Dobbs' running can offset the lack of a passing game and we can win at least 10 games this year. I think that can be done when the defense improves under Shoop"s leadership. I don't think we will give up 52 to Bama. For sure, it will be an interesting 2016 season.

Lets hope 2017 recruits realize the future is very bright at Tennessee.

They should, but if 7 years on VN has taught me anything, it's that haterz gonna hate and negaz gonna neg.

I don't understand. If our passing game will come alive next year (after Dobbs leaves), why aren't we switching this year to make it come alive now? Are the coaches just playing based off of seniority and not who will give us the best chance to open the offense and win ball games?

Sorry...sarcastic I know, but I don't believe that our offense will open up anymore next year than it is this year. The offense you see is what we'll see as long as our current coaches are here.

I disagree. I think they'll change the game plan to meet the strengths of the QB. Dobbs' strength is not as a drop back passers. He's not a great passers at any time really. The biggest problem I have aND it really dictates the QB we utilize, and it's the play of the O-line. It has been the Achilles heel for this team for years. You can argue whether it's talent, coaching, scheme, or a combination of all but you can't argue it's not been consistently good for a very long time.

If you look at teams that are successfully utilizing freshman qbs and redshirt freshmen QB's, you find an O-line that helps him along by affording him more time to make quality decisions. Our o-line cant do that right now and hasn't for a while. Dobbs' scrambling ability has made this line look better than it probably is.

Peterman inserted in the Swamp is a prime example of this. Peterman probably was a better QB than he got credit for here. He just didn't have an offensive line to allow him to show it.

I hope you are right, but I look back at the offense we ran with Worley (not a mobile QB and a porous O Line) and we basically ran the same offense we are running now. Kind of lowers my faith that there will be any change to the O to fit the personnel.

We know the O line isn't world beaters, they may even be below average, but I haven't seen anything that would resemble the coaches recognizing the limitations and making changes to the game plan to mask that weakness or help the line out. I would feel better about future tweaks to the offense if I had seen anything up to this point that indicates the recognition and willingness to change.

We did throw down field much more with Worley. Probably would have more but we couldn't pass protect then either. Is there a common theme here?
