So you're saying OSU?

Osu feels good about where they stand with wade. Last check his father claimed they "lead". However, their DB class is already stupid good and they reportedly lead for okudah out of Texas as well.

Can only take so many DBs without kids noticing. 2 of the current (2017) DB commits could very well end up at LB for osu though.

I'm not saying he is. That comment was saying I'd imagine Shoop had established a great relationship with Wade as a star instate recruit while at PSU. Maybe that relationship now pays off for UT.

I was more referring to the "nail in the coffin" comment. IMO wade wasn't going to psu with or without shoop and would have little bearing on Franklin's status.

I see and agree Wade to PSU is very unlikely. OSU and Michigan will battle till the end for him. UTs got a shot, we just got to get him on campus as often as possible. Him sporting the UT gear on Twitter yesterday can't be a bad thing.

Keep in mind that the Vols signed arguably the best DB haul in the country last week. Could be in a similar situation.

My hopes are that UT turns more into a Bama situation, where kids come in knowing they are going to have to wait their turn, but want to be on a championship team so much, they are willing to do it.

He seemed just as excited when the Shoop hire was announced as any of our current players, commits, or other recruits.

Coach Shoop to UT...🤔🤔🤔

That's excited? That's his tweet when announced.

A lot of reaching here. It will be very hard to pull this kid.

Had some emojis in there too man. You know what they say, an emoji is worth a thousand words or something like that.

If we were to land Wade and Gibbs, think about the talent and depth at the CB position for years to come. Gosh that's almost scary to think about.

Underclassman Eval

STRENGTHS: Well-built defender with good speed. Reads the QB's eyes well and is effective in zone coverage. Flashes a quick first step and a closing burst. Versatile athlete who could play running back or safety at the next level. Dominates current level of competition.

AREAS OF IMPROVEMENT: Does not have a second gear to stick with faster receivers in man. Lacks ball skills and body control to make interceptions. Less than willing to mix it up in run support and is not a fundamentally sound tackler. A bit of a waist bender.

BOTTOM LINE: Wade is a good football player that does not get challenged against his current competition. However, we believe he has the athleticism and instincts to develop into a very capable defensive back at the next level. Needs to add significant bulk and strength for either side of the ball.

That eval from ESPN doesn't sound like a 5 star to me. The one thing that sticks out is his speed to cover faster receivers. If that is true we can't use him the SEC maybe the Big 10?

They call him a "well built defender that need to add significant bulk & strength". Only slightly conflicting imo..

Not exactly. Well built refers to his ability to add bulk. Basically means he has a large frame that will add weight. Some people have small bone structure, narrow shoulders and hips and would struggle to add good weight to their slight frame. I will give them the benefit of the doubt and say that is what they mean.

TIFWIW, but last night a group of guys wearing UT gear came into my work and we got to talking. One of them claimed to be good friends with PFort. Says he gets texts from him whenever he gets good news. He talked about Warrior, told me not to worry about Gibbs and then said that Fort thinks that we are looking good with Wade. Said Shoop has had a relationship with him for a long time. Its not ground breaking news, but if everything the guy said is true, that means Fort is optimistic that we land Wade. Like I said, TIFWIW
