Well he was a top 100 player on rivals and 247 composite so he's pretty close to being a 5*. Hasn't shown to be a 5* talent as of yet.

Sounds pretty accurate to me.

Let me re-phrase that bold part for you. Our coaching staff hasn't given Byrd a chance to show he's a 5* talent.

He's being totally misused like a lot of other players. Some of that showed today when players contributed that hadn't even had a chance yet.

Tyler caught one deep pass today & deep passes he should see more often because of that speed. Not just screens left & right or 5 yard in patterns.

Top 10 player before hitting college.

Explain him not being a 5 star DB. You can't tell me he wasn't supposed to be top 10-15 after his performance. Man dominated in coverage and STs. You can't excuse that garbage they do. Lol

I'll be the first to admit I don't know squat about evaluating the technical aspect of position skills, but of the film from The Opening that I saw, he (Wade) reminds me of Baylen Buchanan when he plays, always a step away from the receiver, trying to catch up to them.

I want CB's who can stay with the receiver, locate the ball in the air and make a play while the ball is on the way. E. Moseley is able to stay with the receivers but can't seem to be able to make a play on the ball in the air. I believe we have enough players at WR, if Byrd is as good at cb as they say, we NEED him at cb to help this defense become elite. Wade may be able to do that, maybe not, but he didn't show it on those videos I watched.

Byrd should be a CB. Buchanan looks like he's regressed throughout the season...

Osbourne looks promising. Mosely is what he is.

I thought they were pretty clear in saying that he didn't do any camps besides ESPN affiliated ones so they weren't able to give a full eval.


Translation: He didn't camp with us and we were jelly

Look, we can all argue all day about our own evaluations on player X. Breaker obviously feels strongly about his evaluation on Wade. That is fine.

You are however 100% wrong on tOSU not wanting him. Nothing could have been farther from the truth, so don't push that bull**** narrative. He had been on tOSU's campus 6x going into last spring. tOSU had him ranked as their #1 corner on their board. Urban Meyer and his staff used their pressure tactics to try and force Lamont Wade to commit last spring and basically gave him an ultimatum. Urbs tried to tell him that they had other top rated corners begging to become Buckeyes and that Lamont needed to make a decision soon or else they would move on. They had Amir Reap begging to join, they already had Terrell Pryor and Shaun Wade and Marcus Williamson committed and tOSU was feeling strong vibes from Jeffrey Okaduh. Meyer supposedly told Lamont and his father "you have been up to Columbus 6x already, what more do you need to see at this point, either commit or quit wasting our time".

That pressure tactic pissed Lamont Wade and his father off as they asked Urban to give them a few more months to visit other schools first as they had already seen tOSU 6x and PSU many times, but wanted to go see UT, Bama and a few other schools to compare. Urban said take it or leave it. The Wades left it and he dropped them from his top 5 when he was predicted to be a Buckeye by everyone at that point.

To further prove your silly statement about tOSU not wanting him badly, after the Wades said FU to Urban and his pressure tactic, tOSU has been trying like gangbusters to get back in good with Lamont and his family. Urban pretended to act like it was a commit now or we move on situation, but the Wades balked at that idea and sure enough tOSU has been trying to apologize and has continued to recruit him hard despite the lingering anger the Wades had for Urban and his methods.

So you can debate and bring up Wades size, poor showing at the opening in 1v1's and what not, that is certainly fair and legitimate opinions, but you are 100% wrong that tOSU doesn't want him. BAMA also wants him, but i would agree they aren't investing a ton of effort into him like they would if they really really wanted him.

He most certainly has...

He is one of the most athletic players on the team and you can easily tell that.

Just because most on here can't tell an athlete from someone who is athletic doesn't mean that everyone is that way.
