If the coaching situation stays the same in the PAC-10--or whatever it is now--for the next few years, then I anticipate it will rival the SEC for the most dominant conference.

With Sarkisian, Harbaugh, Reilly, Kelly, and Neuheisel in place, the PAC-10 will be much stronger in two years top-to-bottom than it is now. In addition, all these teams will benefit from USC losing 30 scholarships during the next three years.

The SEC has been the best in the nation since at least 2005, but it seemed top-heavy and rebuilding last year. If the negavols are right (I hope not) and SC, UK, Vandy, and at least one Mississippi team remain mediocre, then I think the PAC-10 will be the conference setting the bar in 2012.

Any thoughts?

uw doesn't have the recruiting base to be a national power anymore. things have changed since the 80s. oregon/cal/stanford are getting all the so cal guys willing to go elsewhere.

Top Ten high school recruiting States

1. Florida
2. Texas
3. California
4. Georgia
5. Louisiana
6. Alabama
7. Ohio
8. Penn.
9. S. Carolina
10. Mississippi

Looks kinda tough for the Pac 12 in my opinion...Just a thought

Recruiting rankings are about as worthwhile as condoms to a catholic. Near term I see the status quo continuing with the PAC ten and big xii being 2a and 2b behind the sec in terms of conference suremacy.

And as usual not nearly far behind the sec as the sec honks like to think.

kelly and neuheisel really? and no chance that harbaugh stays till 2012.
I like Mike Riley. However, if he was going to make Oregon State anything more than they have been under him it would have already happened.

Remember this statement when you see how much better L.A. and San Diego area high school coaches like Sarkisian than Kelly and Tedford. Oregon doesn't realize it yet, but their little joyride is about to be over. Cal also needs to find a new ground to plow. Sarkisian spent every free waking moment at SC cultivating relationships for when he got his shot at a top slot.

Starting to see more offers from pac-10 coming out this way, with good reason I suppose

:whatever:

lol is that so?

I don't know anything about Sark's relationship with coaches in the area compared to Kelly's, but Oregon's recent success has had very little to do with their recruiting of Southern California. It's been obvious for some time that the Bay Area (which actually WAS important by contrast) pipeline has seriously deteriorated, but Oregon has been in the process of adjusting to that reality for a few years now. Oregon is making inroads on the East Coast thanks to new DL coach Jerry Azzinaro and Chip Kelly himself (both Northeasterners) and Scott Frost is hitting Florida hard. Oregon has already built good relationships in Texas (LaMichael James, Darron Thomas, Blake Cantu, Dontae Williams, Lache Seastrunk) and if you think Oregon is in trouble because they can't pull a couple of kids from Southern California ever year, you're wildly delusional - both because, well, they can, and ultimately it matters very little how much success they have in that one corner of the recruiting map.

I couldn't have said it any better.

Keep telling yourself that. Your cute little fly by night program will soon be back where it spent most of its miserable existence. Looking up at anyone in the PAC Whatever Number You End Up With that makes a commitment to football. Your basketball search should have taught you a lesson. Nike money has its limits. A healthy Washington will ensure you see those limits sooner than you think.

Cute little fly by night program? We've established ourselves as being a legit program over the past 10-15 years bud. We aren't going anywhere. Are you just sad that UT is declining?

You're a joke. If Tennessee has losing seasons for about a quarter century straight, we'll be on par with your program.

I have said time and time again that UT is easily better than Oregon historically, but we're at a tier above Tennessee's at the present time.

Established what? That you're arguably the second best program in a league where only one team matters? Congratulations. Impressive stuff.

USC is descending, we're ascending. There's a shift in power occuring. We're going to be a top 10 program of the next 10 year and I would not be surprised at all if we won a national title in that timeframe.
