If the coaching situation stays the same in the PAC-10--or whatever it is now--for the next few years, then I anticipate it will rival the SEC for the most dominant conference.
With Sarkisian, Harbaugh, Reilly, Kelly, and Neuheisel in place, the PAC-10 will be much stronger in two years top-to-bottom than it is now. In addition, all these teams will benefit from USC losing 30 scholarships during the next three years.
The SEC has been the best in the nation since at least 2005, but it seemed top-heavy and rebuilding last year. If the negavols are right (I hope not) and SC, UK, Vandy, and at least one Mississippi team remain mediocre, then I think the PAC-10 will be the conference setting the bar in 2012.
Any thoughts?
