Paint the Rock for Torrance Gibson!

How is that ignorant what I'm saying is one player does not make a team you put good players around the qb and the offense will move no doubt the kid is talented but qb is more in the head than physical ability

AJ McCarron and Jay Barker would agree with that statement. With that being said, it sure is a lot easier to win with a great QB and I hope the Vols can land the best one in the country.:good!:

I don't understand all the "AJ McCarron isn't a great quarterback" stuff. All he did was win. And when he was asked to make throws he made them.

Are you all saying he wasn't great because he didn't throw 40 times for 500 yards a game? He never had to. But when he was called on to throw he made all the throws. He was a stud.

As all of you know Torrance Gibson is coming to Tennessee on his own dime to go to our Summer Camp on June 7th where Coach Jon Gruden is headlining the event.

Torrance Gibson is our best shot at landing an extremely talented QB and can take our recruiting to land an amazing class. I think Butch Jones will be pushing for a commitment from Gibson. We need to show him the love and paint the rock!

Sorry to let you know this but Gibson is going to be an Auburn commit. After last weekend, he has Auburn as (1A) & UT as (1B)

Even if he is impressed with us and leans our way, Auburn will do as they usually do and negative recruit against us and get him to remain at the Barn.

We need to move on and look for a different q.b. Don't waste time and energy on him anymore after the camp.

I'll call Butch this afternoon and let him know.

I am leaning towards McCarron NOT being a great q.b. HOWEVER; maybe Saban held him back and wouldn't let him loose.

So, maybe he is great but we didn't see it.

Kinda like Franco Harris was a fullback for John Capaletti at Penn State. he mostly blocked for Capaletti but the Steelers drafted him in the 1st round and made him the feature back.
Few knew he could play that well because Joe Pa held him back.

Same could be true with McCarrons. Just a possibility.

he's not GREAT... he was good, but not great...anytime he had to get into a shootout,Bama lost more times than not...
and the defense was as responsible,if not more responsible, for most of those wins...

Thank you for the recruiting prophecy update, oh wise seer.

The analogy is fair but the history is wrong. Cappelleti won the Heisman in 1973 and Franco Harris' last year was 1971. Lydell Mitchell was the running back who was in the same backfield at PSU in 1971......That team played in Knoxville that year and came in undefeated and left a 31-11 loser.

I've never called anyone out on VN for any really ignorant comments...but this is ignorant.

Are you really that afraid of Auburn? You either are really intimdated by Auburn or you don't believe in Butch.

Listen, Auburn is going to be looking for a top dual threat QB this year - plain and simple. If we shy away from every top QB just because Auburn is also recruiting them, I would literally plant pansies around Coach Jones' yard because that's exactly what he'd be. But he isn't... in fact, he is quite the opposite. I mean, don't you like that we have a coach that is capable of going toe to toe with the SEC champion and national runner up for a top recruit and is not only hanging right there with them, but has a damn good shot of beating them for one of the best players in the country?

May want to add Jauan Jennings on the rock as well since he will be at the camp. We KNOW that he wants to be a Vol. Show the kid some much desrved love.

He is one of the ones I was considering when I made my previous comment. If your going to paint up the rock, include all the recruits names as done in the past. Does not make a lot of sense at least to me to slap this kids name on the rock and leave off the kid who is already committed at QB.

No, we are saying it because he got to see the most pedestrian defenses he could possibly see. Anyone that played Bama had to stack the box to defend their running game. McCarron got to see a lot of single coverages and stayed clean by in large to a dominant offensive line littered with 4 and 5 star recruits. That's pretty much been the whole crux of the argument, no one really knows if he is that good or not. Now that he's in a balanced league where the disparity in talent isn't near as large as he got to see it, let's see what he can do.

Were you complaining when they did this for Kahlil McKenzie?

Wasn't he the only one visiting that day? Pretty sure there was not a whole group of recruits coming through.

I'd also point out he is a highly sought after legacy recruit and with it comes a few perks.

IIRC,Khalil was the only recruit in town that weekend...big difference in 1 recruit in town and 100's of recruits, one being a commit already at the same position...

I don't know if that Rock will fit through a printer. That's a ton of work just to produce in Photoshop, much less hand paint on a rock.

Any other details you want to add?

It's not to be printed, it's too be painted on the rock. It wouldn't be that hard for a good artist. Someone like Kahlils rock artist

Just paint a person in ut Jersey, with his number, helmet to cover face to make it easier. holding a fist out with a championship ring on and confetti falling. Not that hard

So after reading all this, I've yet to see anything that says we are actually gonna do this. I'd be willing to meet with some of you guys maybe Friday night (tomorrow night) to at least paint something...Something simple and genuine from VolNation to TG. Let the school paint something fancy if they want, but let's give TG something genuine from VN. Even if it's only the hashtag #TG2UT or something. What say you guys? I'd be willing to even get the orange spray paint if someone else gets white for the background? Friday night at say 8 pm? Email me if you actually wanna do this because it's a great idea...skasper06@hotmail.com

You're going places in this world and show great leadership...while the others are playing grab butt over some comment you want to take action...good for you!!!!

By that logic, Josh Dobbs should be one of the greatest quarterbacks in the SEC. He's extremely smart.

When I opened this thread I said to myself, "I wonder how many posts we'll make it through before the 'thug' and 'ego' comments start rolling in."

Athletes are born and bred to be competitive. The vast majority of athletes are Type A personalities. I don't have a problem with someone talking the talk as long as they walk the walk. He knows he's good and he can prove it (at least that's why he's here this weekend).

If I was a quarterback with top-tier elite football programs around the country knocking on my door and throwing themselves at my feet I would probably feel pretty good about myself too. Nothing wrong with it.

This is a very exciting time for this young man. Let him enjoy the process without all the ball-busting. He only gets to do it once. It's been frustrating enough for him already (RE: codyg).

He gets it!

You want all this crap painted up that would take "a good artist" days to do. If it's so easy, get your fanny up there and knock it out.
