Palin: Let's Merge The Tea Party And GOP

I was one of the first people on these boards to mention Palin as a possible VP choice for McCain. I still think that she has more practical experience in both politics and leadership than Teleprompter Jesus. Would I vote for her if she were the GOP nominee in 2012? Hell yes. Would I vote for her over someone like Jim Demint, Mike Pence, Rick Perry or Duncan Hunter in the primaries? Hell no.

As far as merging the "Tea Party" with the GOP, that's already been done. Conservatives are, hopefully, taking over the party. With luck, the GOP won't end up nominating some moderate turd-sandwich like Lindsey Graham, Bill Frist, or Colin Powell.

Depends on if it's the fiscal conservatives or social conservatives taking over.

Even as a fairly social conservative, I am not sure I want that segment of the GOP controlling the influence.

Good luck with that dream... and when you wake up, pull the lever for Romney or Huckabee... because that's exactly who you're more likely to get.

I agree with you, she would be way better than what we have now. I am not saying I would vote for her for sure, but I would consider her. She would be better than Huckabee or some of the other potential nominees we have heard mentioned. By the way as I have said several times, I don't believe she will run in 2012.

I don't want the Tea Party and the GOP to merge. I attend Tea Party rallies and meetings and believe we can make sure we keep the GOP from moving too much further to the left.

She sucks. If Palin is the best candidate the GOP can put forward in the next election, our country will be in trouble for a long time. She is little more than a talking head. She acts like a fiscal conservative, but I doubt she could even explain a supply/demand curve.

Given Obama's proposed lunacy I would imagine he and Palin are on fairly equal footing.

or I could ask that class of 6th graders how he does on the teleprompter

OR....try and stay with me, here....you could ask the republicans who were in that Q and A with him last week how he does with no teleprompter.

Chairman MaObama did fine with the GOP. He is a smooth liar. He's not as good as Clinton, who can run intellectual circles around him, but he is at least as good as any of a number of televangelists.

this is something i've had constant debates about.

does obama know so little about economics that he truly believes all the crap that comes out of his mouth? or is he deliberately lying to the american people every day? either situation isn't exactly great.

The democrats just wont let her go.

Nice try.

She is marketing herself big time right now. And she's filling a void in the GOP.

Read the other day she's charging an obscene amount of money to show up at tea party gatherings. But hey, the sponsors don't mind because she brings in the crowds and they in turn buy the trinkets.

Tea parties have been coopted to some degree at this time.

True. There are elements on the right or even politics in general who don't mind making a penny exploiting someone else's motivations. Ralph Reed is someone who made his fortunes pimping out his followers - Abramoff and Grover Norquist are other examples. FNC is another good example along with talk radio. Someone with cash and a desire to make more only have to invest in a cause and reap the rewards later.

And thanks to our glorious Supreme Court corporations can now run for office.

The GOP is largely just as out of touch as the Democrats in a lot of ways, so all that would do is bring the whole movement and it's potential down.

I love it when the libs tell conservatives who their candidate will be. Unfortunately, it seemed to work last election.

Where did the members of the tea party come from? they weren't born yesterday. They are already merged.... considering they will vote republican. If they get their own candidates it would only help democrats, they are not that stupid....... well....... didnt glen beck start all this?
