Progressive taxation doesn't bother me. For example, having a military capable of repelling invasion is worth far more to someone who has been fortunate enough to accumulate property and wealth than it is someone who lives in a decrepit tenament. The interstate system is of greater benefit to those who have a financial stake in commerce.

The irony is taxing the crap out of the middle class to buy missile systems from the super -wealthy, who then evade the taxes that would otherwise pay to keep their wealth maintained. See e.g. Halliburton.

in a situation where the top-20% of taxpayers are already paying 80% of the taxes the question obviously is if these advantages you have mentioned aren't already more than reflected in the current tax system. also you don't mention public schools, welfare, medicaid, public employment, unemployment insurance, social security, etc and many other things where the poor benefit far more than the wealthy.

It is a myth that corporations pay taxes. For them, taxes are an expense which they pass on to the consumer (us) in the form of higher prices.

Don't know exactly where you are going in VA but with Monterey in your SN I think its likely you might be heading to the coast. If so, it's mighty nice here right now. At least until August rolls around.
