Interesting timing, doing this on a Friday before a holiday. If it were to proudly trumpet a bid for the WH, wouldn't it be done with much fan fare and with big coverage, as opposed to trying to keep it on the down low as much as possible?
There's some sort of noble sob story of how she quit because the constant partisan legal accusations of corruption were costing Alaskans millions of dollars, despite her being found innocent each time.
That's just a bit too perfect though, now isn't it? Even if it were true, why give your adversaries the satisfaction?
I think it much more likely she is going to make a run at congress.
Read an article over the weekend about how divisive a figure she had become in Alaska. Apprently the perception is that she came back from the VP nomination and campaign rather disinterested in the Governorship. Bored with it. Stopped coming to meetings with the legislature and no press conferences like she used to do before running for VP.
Based on her press conference announcing resignation, I think she's just really unhappy and tired of the game.
