they are probably saying that because it is the safe thing for them to say without going on a limb at all. they are limiting their downside.

bottom line is i agree with the earlier post of making your dad sport hideous gear of other squads i think a t-shirt with tebow hugging urban crier on the front and jorts as an accompaniment. maybe round it out with a kiffin's gas pumpers trojan helmet

You actually posted this inviting people to point out your parents are mental defects? U R supposed to love your parents, not put them out for ridicule...Oh yeah, your parents are mental cases.

I guess I get what some of you guys are saying now, but I was just thought it was odd how we can have such high expectations for this season and other people who claim to be fans think we will be so bad.

Sounds like you need to educate your parents on the current reality of Tennessee football. Those who base their expectations for 2012 based off of the last game of 2011 will be surprised.

I hear this same stuff every yr. from my Dad, but it's always after the 1st loss.

As a fan, we must support our team but we also must be realistic about it. For instance, almost every time that I see someone predict this seasons outcome, they put "O Bama" as a loss for us. They are being realistic but I am sure they will attend the game or watch it on t.v. and hope that we win. They are fans but they are realistic.
If we were all TRUE fans, then everyone's prediction for this season would be that we go 12 - 0, then win the S.E.C. Championship game, then win the National Championship game for a record of 14 - 0.
I don't see that on any ones posts on here. So, I suppose that none of us are true fans.
In your parents eyes, they see other teams in the S.E.C. as being stronger and Dooley as a weak coach.

Maybe they just don't want to jinx it. I ran into a huge Auburn fan last weekend; of course he ask me how are the Vols going to be this year. I said, "gonna suck I guess." I didn't mean a word I said; in fact I've kinda regretted telling him that, cause he bets on a lot of games.
