Paris Terror Attack Underway

It sounds so morbid, but, for the life of me, I can't believe that somewhere between 5-15 terrorists haven't gone into elementary schools or Friday night football games and just cleaned house yet, to put it quite bluntly.

If any random idiot with a gun can do it, they certainly could too, and probably far more effectively.

I have no clue why they haven't done anything like that here yet, but I'm glad they haven't, and I hope they never will.

Agreed.

It probably won't be actual ISIS members, but rather disaffected people who just need some charismatic outfit, similarly made up of the disenfranchised, to inspire them.

As if there was any doubt who the perpetrators where, it's pretty much been confirmed now.

Eyewitnesses reports attackers shouting "Allahu Akbar!" Also, ISIS, while not taking credit (at least at the moment) has already celebrated the attacks on social media.

Germany was playing France in a world cup qualifier (I believe) at the Stade de France when one explosion occurred. CNN is currently showing the footage. You don't see the explosion but you can hear it and the crowd's and players' reactions.

The problem is sometimes they look like, tall like, and act like us

I'd say we must make examples of radicals instead of making deals to release them

(threw that last in as Obama jab)

Did you feel it in your buttock?

I'm all for ramping up attacks on ISIS and other radical groups. I worry that if we do it too haphazardly and incur too much collateral damage, the terrorists ultimately get what they want... a religious war.

At least 60 dead now. Hostage situation still ongoing.

This sounds like this will be France's most pivotal moment since WWII and the defining moment of Hollande's career.

I really worry someone will do this at a place like Disney. Just to make it that much more outrageous.

Prayers for the victims and hoping for a speedy end to this situation that saves the lives of the hostages.

I hate to say this, but we are going to have to work with a coalition, including Russia and put boots on the ground

The U.S can't do it alone and then take the blame for it. Has to be a concerted effort and we have to be prepared to do some ugly things.

I suspect you are correct.

Problem is, Europe, particularly Northern Europe, needs those immigrants. Their native populations are past recovery point now and are in irrecoverable decline. Only immigrant populations can potentially save them from themselves and keep their happy rides going.

Seems Europe has put itself between a rock and a hard place. On the one hand, it is in population decline while, on the other hand, this decline means having to import more and more instability.

Man, what a damn mess they have on their hands. Just one more reason I'm glad I'm not European.

Someone on tv made a simple, yet meaningful analogy last night. If the boat is taking on water, go to the source and plug the hole. Europe and America both are using a bucket to scoop water out with instead of the aforementioned..

I just hate seeing us have to put our troops in harms way again if we are not dedicated to doing what it takes to win

The troops deserve better than to be put in the No win situations our government has put them in since Vietnam

I'll add to your analogy by saying the US and Europe are not only using the bucket, but tossing it over their shoulder into the back of the boat.

Just noticed a volprof post you quoted, but I'm sure even volprof (being that he's proud to not be in Europe) realizes that had it not been for illegal immigration, the US would be in the very same predicament?

I get what you are saying, but there is a big difference between this type of warfare and traditional war.

With this, there is no measurable victory. No one comes to you to surrender. It is not a discreet land, or citizenry. You can't "win," you can only just slowly marginalize the threat.

The problem is that in doing so you might create more terrorists.

I pause to remark on our own politics. Something like this kills Rand Paul's chances. It's a boon for Trump, and his over simplistic approach to the problem.
