Paris Terror Attack Underway

Yes, Ras, I realize. And our biggest security concern there is not Islamic terrorism but the self-ghettosizing of Mexican populations which could allow for the spillover of cartel violence and increasingly non-assimilated, isolated collectives.

But that's a conversation for another day.

@aarontimms: "The shooters were unmasked, shot randomly at the crowd for 12-15 mins, recharging at will. They were very young. It was extremely violent."

@MashableNews: Facebook post from injured person still inside Paris concert hall La Bataclan: “They slaughtered everyone, one by one.”

I get what you are saying, but there is a big difference between this type of warfare and traditional war.

With this, there is no measurable victory. No one comes to you to surrender. It is not a discreet land, or citizenry. You can't "win," you can only just slowly marginalize the threat.

The problem is that in doing so you might create more terrorists.

I pause to remark on our own politics. Something like this kills Rand Paul's chances. It's a boon for Trump, and his over simplistic approach to the problem.

We entered a new era of warfare with Afghanistan. These wars can't be won anymore with conventional means. They'll require full-scale social restructure and funding just like the Marshall Plan in Europe and MacArthur's leadership of post-war Japan.

The problem, however, is that Western governments and publics are neither willing nor able to do this in the Greater Middle East.

I think we're only going to see more of the same, and we'd better hope like heck that more failed states don't crop up in that part of the world.

Democracy over there is a bad thing at the moment. More economic liberalization is needed there before handing over the keys to political enfranchisement to the "natives," so to speak. We jumped the gun. They weren't ready yet, and won't be until they have relatively stable governments and economies.

Are you saying it's an ideology, like nazism? Is fanaticism and religion one in the same?

Oh there is a very distinct line of victory. But the weaksauce public could never stomach that reality.

I'm all for ramping up attacks on ISIS and other radical groups. I worry that if we do it too haphazardly and incur too much collateral damage, the terrorists ultimately get what they want... a religious war.
And there you have it. Can't fight them because we might kill an innocent. 60+ Parisians and their families would probably like to kick you in the nuts. You are disgusting.

Germany was playing France in a world cup qualifier (I believe) at the Stade de France when one explosion occurred. CNN is currently showing the footage. You don't see the explosion but you can hear it and the crowd's and players' reactions.

Today's match was a friendly, but France is set to host the quadrennial, preeminent European football championship in June, an event which should warrant unprecedented security.

Are there any other kind?

Wahhabism and western influence in the ME will be the death of humanity, not regular, everyday Muslims.

Relax

Everyday muslims? They are the same people doing the attacks. The idea of a "moderate muslim" is a few notches below believing in Bigfoot on the ignorance chart.

As if there was any doubt who the perpetrators where, it's pretty much been confirmed now.

Eyewitnesses reports attackers shouting "Allahu Akbar!" Also, ISIS, while not taking credit (at least at the moment) has already celebrated the attacks on social media.

Wait! Soccer? Germany VS France? OBVIOUSLY German right wing neo nazi's who moonlight as organic farmers!..

For the life of me, I don't understand why we only work with certain countries to "combat" this radicalized idealism? Why are we proponents to fight it with France, yet opponents of Russia and their fight against the same thing?

This is not the time for open borders, no matter how bad the progressives want them

It's too dangerous and its going to happen here again if we don't tighten up

Middle Eastern immigrants are as responsible for this as white people are for the dozens of school shootings we have every year.

Pretty silly to pin the actions of a few extremists on an entire race or region of people.
