I'm hoping to make a stop over in Malaysia next summer as a matter of fact. Riding the train from Bangkok to Kuala Lumpur.

The majority of Muslims I've been around in college/engineering school seemed to be regular guys. There is one Muslim guy that I have to deal with at work that can be hard to deal with, but most others are OK, as well. Had a long conversation with a cab driver from Iran recently and we talked about how screwed up the world is with all of the nonsense.

You need to study up on Islam sometime. I recommend starting with Ayan Hirsi Ali's three categories of the Islamic world and Muslims.

There's an argument to be made, and I think a fairly convincing one, that groups like ISIS are actually being good Muslims while the majority (the moderates) are not.

Like with most things though, Islam, in my opinion is neither good nor bad. It's essentially amoral, meaning that it's an imperfect system that places obligations and duties upon its adherents who will interpret it as law however they please. Islam is basically like a gun. It's as useful or as bad as the person carrying it wants to make it.

One thing you need to understand is that all people have dislikes, whether it be spinach, cold weather, cough medicine or people. You or nobody else will EVER change that...

A "poor grip" on any religion espousing heaven for those who believe and hell for unbelievers is a necessity. You have to allow secular morality in. Christianity, far from perfect, has at least benefited from Jesus's superiority to Muhammad.

We'd be better dropping all of it, but it's not practical so long as humans continue to fear death.

Eh, don't get carried away with the media sensationalism. The world is actually less violent and chaotic today than it's basically ever been, unrest in the Middle East aside. Violent crime rates have been going down for years.
