Parker won championship - "This is for Pat."

What a class individual, after winning her first WNBA title and MVP of the finals, the first words coming out of her mouth, as she was crying was, I did it for Pat!!! Make no mistake people, Candace Parker is one of the greatest ball players, of all-time, simply unstoppable tonight. To all of you recruits, that are still considering TN, now what is your excuse, TN breeds CHAMPIONS!!!.
Yes I think this win and her comments about Pat and not saying anything else just helped in recruiting a lot! Come on Patterson!

Glad they won, but it's ridiculous that they didn't waive that shot.

....it does feel good to be on the other side of a ref screw job.

LA could have won game 4 if not for the botched backcourt violation call. Minny went ahead for good on that possession.

Sometimes the bad call goes in your favor, sometimes it doesn't. I don't think that takes away from LA's victory at all

I didnt say she didn't win game 5 (she had a lot of help also Chelsea Gray had a stretch where she scored 4 straight baskets in the 4th) Candace balled out the finals mvp has always been about what is done in the series and not in the game, like I said I am Happy for her and taking nothing away from her I just think Nnedka had a better series and that she should've have won the series MVP! Parker had a better game tonight but its never been based on a single night performance or at least i thought it wasn't
I guess we'll just agree to disagree

Brian Agler played Rocky Top into the mic at the presser and Candace hugged him as she started to tear up. Great Tennessee moment.

The MVP is suppose to be how you play the entire finals (series) not just 1 or 2 games, its not discrediting what she's done/accomplished, I just feel Nnedka played a better series
You and others completely trashed Parker after the last game so I'm not surprised you feel that way. Parker had her highs and her lows just like Nneka did. I feel that at Parker's age it was harder for her to bounce back when she didn't have as much time in-between games. She played much better in games 1, 3, and 5 because her body had more time to physically recover. I was embarrassed as a TN fan to read people trashing Parker here a few days ago. I am so proud of her and all of the LA Sparks for not giving up like some fans did.

If you go back and read what I wrote I never gave up on her, I said she needed to play better and as a fan who has the utmost respect for her & the game she has too much talent to play uninspired which it looked like she did in game 4, if thats what you call bashing so be it. Only thing I said and it was in agreement partially with Amb was that I would look to trade her if she had a lackluster performance this game (played like she didn't want it) because that isn't the lady vol way! Folks on this board kill me with the behind kissing like folk can't have negative opinions about anything Lady Vols! Coach Pat Summitt established a model of excellence and I am a Lady Vol fan who refuses to accept mediocrity because I know Coach Summitt wouldn't

Some Lady Vols are just special. Nice way to rise to the challenge, Pat would have been proud of that performance. Thank you for the media moment, seen by millions Candace.

I love the new playoffs format. Great Finals.

Jordan Reynolds, play like Chelsea Gray.

Go Lady Vols.

She had a monster close out game and the Sparks just defeated the defending champs. And you feel this is the time to criticize CP3 and rant on "about not accepting mediocrity"? Seriously, lighten up and learn how to enjoy the moment -- i.e., stop raining on everyone else's parade. Players and teams don't win championships every d:pepper:ay.

People were way too hard on Candace IMO. That's a fact. Even superstars have bad games. Suggesting she be traded was a bit much for me, if I'm being honest.

It takes a team to win a championship, and this year she has the right people around her.

Two wins on the defending champions home court. Huge! smh

Candace was the best player in the world this year .

I had the same kind of joy, I had when Tamika won her Championship. Players you knew who really, embodied Pat, what being a Lady Vols is all about. I wanted Holdsclaw to win won bad too.

Lady Vols = Wonder Women!

What a great atmosphere for Finals....

You shouldn't be embarrassed, the "fans" who said it and now look like idiots should be. The ones who b**ed and moaned all season whenever the Sparks would lose "Parker sucks," "trade Parker," "no heart, no effort," "she deserved to get left off the Olympic/WNBA team." blah blah blah

Those same fans who now want to drive the Candace Parker bandwagon like they never spewed all that venom. Just GTFO...

One last parting shot for the haters who hammered Parker's effort:

“I’ve never been around somebody that has been critiqued so hard,” Agler said, “and I’ve never been around anyone I’m happy for than Candace.”

Said Ogwumike: “She’s been through so much. She’s probably the most misunderstood person in the league. I told her I wanted her to get one.”
