So
Memphis has world class facilities and plays in an NBA arena. They have one of the best recruiting areas in the country, are in a decent conference, insane fan and corporate support, and pay their coach 2.6 million per- and in five years, Josh has accomplished:
2010: 2nd round NIT Ole Miss beats Memphis by 10. To be fair, Pastner stepped into a tough situation.
2011: Round of 64...2 point loss to Arizona
2012: Round of 64...7 point loss to St Louis. Score wasn't so bad here, but it was clear that Josh was COMPLETELY out coached
2013: Round of 32...22 point beatdown by Michigan State. Again, game wasn't that close.
2014: Round of 32
embarrassed by UVA by 18, but game wasn't nearly that close. Could have been 30+ had Virginia wanted to honestly.
I hope he stays at Memphis forever. A couple of more seasons like this, and UT can absolutely become the best program in the state. The top Memphis talent simply will not keep signing on to play for a coach that has a proven track record of taking 5 star recruits and turning them into fry cooks.
