Patterson plunge?

I'll take that bet. No way he's a top 12 pick. It's not that I think he can't make it because he will. People seem to forget that each team has more wide receivers then any other position available for the draft each year. You have to be the complete packag " ala Johnson, green, Fitzgerald to be worthy of a top ten pick.

I don't even see your avi on my phone.....

But ok winner gets to pick the losers avi for.........you ok with 2 months?

He will be, but there are multiple reports floating out there that he has had some horrible interviews with teams. There is a lot of talk that this guy may be a few cents short of a dollar.

You don't need to be a rocket scientist to catch a football and run with it. CP's unbelievable raw athletic ability on the field doesn't cause me to question his Algebraic and Scientific prowess.

If CP was in Mensa, it would not have made it any better watching him. He is one of the greatest to ever wear the Orange, and I am glad I got to see him do his thing.

Teams picking in the first half of the draft need a player who's as close to a sure thing as possible to help them out immediately. If you're in the top 10-15, you've got to get an immediate starter. Patterson's an incendiary talent, but he's a risk. Tennessee had an NFL-quality QB and still ended up having to pretty much hand the ball off to him in order to get him touches. That's a big red flag, regardless of how crummy his coaching might have been.

He's a guaranteed electric returner who has a chance to be a good receiver. Great value later in the first round. Risky early when there are surer bets on the board.

After hearing for weeks how he was in the neighborhood of a top 10 pick, Don Banks of SI now has him going at #31--barely in the first round. I hope he does well in the NFL, no matter where he gets picked and by whom.

No, he is not a top #10 selection; however, had Sanders left Pittsburgh, then Pittsburgh would have drafted Patterson at #17. They would have gotten
a raw receiver to help replace Wallace & Sanders plus they would have gotten a kick returner or punt returner.

I think New England would be interested in him in the first round but I also think that New England could get the steal of the draft and get Da Rick Rogers.

So, it is very possible for Patterson to go in the 1st round.

Hell, a great fullback can even be drafted in the 1st round, if the right team puts a high priority on drafting a fullback.

CP is not a sure bet at receiver because he isn't polished at the position. However, the best route running/best hands receiver can't be coached up to also be a freak athlete if they lack athleticism. CP can be coached up to run routes and catch better, and he already has the freak athlete part taken care of. He has a higher ceiling than ANY receiver in the draft, and that's why I think he will go first round. Worst case scenario, he never picks up the routes, and you get a pro bowl return specialist.

It doesn't take a genius to make people miss, run faster, jump higher and catch a reverse. He might not get to be a top ten pick but he is the best receiver in this class. David Ricky is pretty badass too.

This. He's more of a RB ATP, than WR.

Both Patterson and Hunter should have used their last year of college ball to become really ready. Had they stayed, both wouldn't have made it out of the second round next year. That is for sure. They aren't ready!

It sure would have been fun to see CP & JH in CBJ's spread offense and given a whole different feel to the upcoming season.

There is a general bad mouthing by the national and local media on our guys going to the NFL. Maybe some criticism is deserved, but they are really piling on. I will wait until the people who count, the NFL teams, make their decisions and not the blabbering Will Wests of the world.

Good for him... Going to a playoff team

Im not a Cowboy fan by any means, but I think Dallas would be a great landing spot for CP. He'd have a solid QB, he'd be the #3 this year to learn behind Dez and Miles Austin, then by 2014, he'd be ready to step in a take the #2 spot from the aging Austin. Dez and Patterson would be pretty solid wr tandem.

I doubt either makes it out of the 2nd rd this year! CP has fallen some, but still looks like a late 1st. And Hunter has gained some steam, he might now sneak into late 1st or early to middle 2nd. I think the best WR in this class is Quinton Patton-La Tech-6'2-210ish, watch his h highlights and his game vs Texas A&M, ridiculous stat line, something like 21receptions for 240yds and 3 or 4 TD's!!! VS A&M!

Hope my fantasy rivals aren't on this site. I want the Patton hype to stay calm til I get him.

Yeah, Patterson could really benefit from the sage advice of Dez Bryant.

No way according to peeps on volnation he only sucked in classes because he knew he was only going to be here a year.. dude is not smart n that might catch up with him on draft day..

Face it most football players r not that school smart but they at least have to be able to comprehend a play book.. can cpl???? We will know soon.

Smarts are smarts--- If he played corner, he'd be OK. Cromartie is about as weak mentally. Surprised UT hasnt been hit academically with CP and Justin's wonderlic scores. The test isn't that difficult.

Personally, I would not take him in the first round. There's no denying that he's probably one of the top five most physically gifted players available, but his inability to fully grasp the playbook or his routes last season is not a good indicator of NFL success.

That is just a dumb comment. I played college football at a small school in TN. I had to work (offseason), maintain my grades, and fulfill my requirements to the football team. The average student has only their school work to deal with....and decide what party to go to in all of their FREE TIME!

Are there some poor students that play football? Are there some poor students that don't play football?

Why the need to stereotype "most" football players as not smart? Garbage.
