The Question is: Can Pearson surpass or equal what Patterson did as a Vol based on your opinion. I know he hasn't played in the SEC yet and different offense but the glimpses you have seen can he do it?

Both are great. Pearson is more of a polished wide receiver. CP was a freak who played WR; he was perhaps the most elusive player in college football with the ball in his hands

CP is a freak. But I do believe VP will do well for himself. I'm just not sure it is fair to VP, to compare him to CP...

Patterson and it's not even close.

No one has any idea yet. Patterson was a phenomenal athlete but was FAR from being a good, polished WR. No reason to believe Pearson will do anything close to CP in terms of return yards and reverses/handoffs. I'd wager, however, all things considered, that Pearson is already beyond where CP was as a WR while at UT.

CP could run very well for his size but look up some of Von's highlights. Dude is shifty as well.

If Bray was still our QB and we had the same OL I would say he could compete with Patterson stat wise.

But Patterson is a freak of nature athletically. It's not fair to compare anybody to him that regard.

VP is all about the catch, where as CP was all about being crazy good after the catch.

You never knew where CP was going in his routes, that is why he worked as a kick returner for Minnesota, they are inserting him a little bit at a time at WR.

But I'm glad we have VP because we need good route runners that can get the YAK after the catch

The question was whether or not he can pass what CP did as a Vol? I sure hope LP will score more than 5 TD's. The athletic comparison is a tough one for VP to overcome.

CP came here knowing he was 1&done and depends totally on athletic ability alone.
But he ran crazy routes out of place and timing. He could have been even more productive had he been getting to the right spot at the right time. Since he couldn't/wouldn't the coaches designed the end arounds and reverses just to get the ball in his hands.

A receiver like VP has an opportunity to exceed CP through his football IQ and teamwork.

Or did you mean Yards After Catch after the catch?

CP may be the most dangerous guy in the NFL....let that sink in.

CP wasn't a good receiver at UT and VP will be.

Ask cam Sutton how shifty (Pearson) is. Remember spring ball? I also don't think its fair to compare CP, an NFL player now and Pearson who will take his first snap for us in a few weeks.

What makes CP so special is his ability to start and stop on a dime and switch direction. You just don't see that very often, especially from someone who is as big as he is.
