Patterson VS Pearson

What makes CP so special is his ability to start and stop on a dime and switch direction. You just don't see that very often, especially from someone who is as big as he is.

VP can do some of that as well. Patterson is a physical freak but I think VP will surprise with his athletic ability. He should have a good year in the slot

I think Pearson will have better stats in almost every category except for yards-after-catch.

CP came here knowing he was 1&done and depends totally on athletic ability alone.
But he ran crazy routes out of place and timing. He could have been even more productive had he been getting to the right spot at the right time. Since he couldn't/wouldn't the coaches designed the end arounds and reverses just to get the ball in his hands.

A receiver like VP has an opportunity to exceed CP through his football IQ and teamwork.

^ this. I love what CP did but a stegosaurus could beat him in a spelling bee..

Pearson is a ridiculous contortionist when it comes to catching the football. He finds ways to make it happen. And while he doesn't have near what CP did in terms of afterburners, he has head fakes and jukes like he was born to do it. They're different kinds of players.

I understand they are different but production wise. VP will be a great receiver. Patterson was just get him the ball and watch him make a play. As an all around football player VP is ahead right now.

CP didn't have as much WR talent around him as VP does, so I expect VP to do well, but not as well as what CP did.....at least in year one.

Give me CP all day, and that's no slight to Von. He's just on another level physically.

CP is an NFL WR1 and had a team adjust their playbook around him after his rookie year. That's big time at age 23.

What I've said in every thread regarding this subject, lather-rinse-repeat

This is not even fair to VP. As a receiver your size defines your game and they aren't even built the same way. What made CP special is he had the speed/athleticism you normally see with smaller guys to go with height and strength.

Personally, I am rooting for Von. I like his approach to the game. He's already showed he can be a playmaker. But I'm not gonna compare him to our last big play Juco receiver. If we're winning games it shouldn't matter

The Question is: Can Pearson surpass or equal what Patterson did as a Vol based on your opinion. I know he hasn't played in the SEC yet and different offense but the glimpses you have seen can he do it?

Patterson is a freak of nature, once in a lifetime type player. If Pearson is half as good as Patterson the Vols will have another future NFL WR for the resume of WR U!

I don't think we will ever see someone as good in the open field as CP in a UT uniform again.

CP was terrific with the ball in his hand.... Von will be terrific when the ball is in the air... running crisp routes and making crazy catches!!!

I hop von represents the same way CP does... CP is a proud #VFL
