If CP is the first WR chosen in the 2013 NFL draft it only cements our reputation as Wide Receiver U. Throw in Tyler making a big push into the first round, and we are sitting high on the pedestal in the eyes of a lot of people on draft day.

"Patterson has limited major college experience but has the measurables teams like. Sunday’s 40-yard dash time of 4.42 seconds is a great sign for his chances of being the No. 1 receiver selected."

Shame we didn't do more with the talent we had. I normally don't like to beat a dead horse, kick a dog while it's down or add insult to injury, but Dooley......smh.

Makes you wonder how our offense sputtered around so much in our league games with all this talent. Guess it is Dooley's fault. Or Chaney. Or Hinshaw. Maybe Fulmer is still to blame.

Bray was having emotional issues and failed to perform against weak opponents on several occasions. Other than that, he was lights out against major competition with Hunter dropping more passes this year than bombs dropped during the Tet offensive.

Offense wasn't our problem in league play last year.

I know this is going to bring about people calling me a negavol, but what good does this do? It doesn't give Bray any victories over our main rivals. It doesn't erase the fact that Vandy and Kentucky both beat us. There might be a slight push in recruiting because of it, but not much. It's just another case of Vols doing great after they leave Knoxville. Maybe Knoxville itself is to blame.

People can talk about how horrible the defense was all day long. I still feel like if the D was good this year, the O would have been bad. It just seems to me like that's the Dooley way. The guy just can't get a full team effort IMO.

I hope for Patterson's sake that he slips just a tinge farther down into the 12-15 range. I would much rather be picked 3-4 spots lower and go to Miami over Buffalo or the Jets.

I watched CP yesterday in his combine and the whole time I watched him he never once dropped a pass. He looked great! If CP can get his route running to where his other intangibles are he's going to be special.

You left out George W Bush. I mean he has to have some responsibility in this, right?

CP will be a star. He has more talent than anyone I have saw play at Neyland in years.

Should show everyone the lack of true playmakers we have had. We need players who can make great impacts on special teams like CP did in one year.

I think Butch will sit in a top wr prospect's living room and say, "even with the most incompetent HC we could find, we still put wr's in the pros. Cause we're WRU, butch!"

Agree he has been one of the best in recent years...wish the "boys" would end up with him opposite Dez Bryant. Then again, he's pretty raw and will have to really apply himself at the next level.

CP and Bray weren't at fault for this season. Our defense lost us most of our games. We had a very good offense, and we greatly improved our run game as well from 2011 to 2012 thanks to Pittman. We lost games because we couldn't stop our opponent on defense, and because we had a head coach who wasn't respected in the locker room by many players. If a team loses faith in their leader at the helm then you are defeated before you ever start.

While all of this makes sense and is likely true, it doesn't answer my question. We aren't going to go back and win games previously played and it's really not going to help us get wins in the future. By the time the 2013 season plays out, no one is going to remember how good CP and Bray looked in the combine. Their showing in the combine also is no reflection whatsoever on Butch Jones.

I'm not dogging Butch with this, I'm just trying to figure out why it matters.

It is as simple as this - If Patterson can remember stuff like Spider 3 Y Banana means run a wheel route then he is the best WR in this draft and it probably isn't close. He would have caught probably 30 more balls for us if he was ever where he was supposed to actually be on the field at all times.
