I never understood putting radio shows on TV. It is two guys sitting 40 feet apart at desks fielding phone calls from redneck idiots. Why do they feel like television is interchangeable with radio? We need visual stimulation while watching TV, not a view of some boring snarky D bag with dumbo ears belittling his audience.

ESPN is already paying all these radio hosts, so it's an extremely cheap option to put them on TV. They don't have to build studios or pay writers. All they have to do is add a 3 or 4 cameras into the mix and they have dirt cheap product to fill the slow hours on weekdays.

I would watch the hell out of sec network beginning when I get off work, but finebaum is on every day until like 7 or 8. Unwatchable. I probably won't be watching that ridiculous channel on week days because by the time anything good might be on, there is much more interesting stuff on other channels.

Exactly. Once you figure this out, the show is actually enjoyable. Finebaum is very good at what he does and a lot of people listen and/or watch him.

I like the guy. He knows his stuff and in the meantime he pushes buttons and whips rednecks into a frenzy so they keep listening. It's brilliant.

It was probably Robert from Waterloo, Iowa. Paul does a lot to take care of him and his family. He is a regular caller. I know I'll catch hell for this, but I actually enjoy listening to the show. Not so much the idiots like Charles from Realtown or Tammy or Phyllis, but when he does talk football it's great for me here in ACC country. We don't get a lot of SEC talk in the triangle. When they do talk about the SEC on local radio, it's usually in a condescending way or accusatory attitude about how everyone in the SEC cheats.

The thing is actual football is hardly ever talked about. I listened a few times when he was on XM and it was horrible. Idiot bammers and barners yapping and that's his show.

He doesn't know crap about sports, the actual Xs and Os.

And if his show was as bad as Tennessee fans think then ESPN wouldn't have hired him or especially put it on tv. When we start winning again and he talks Tennessee up, they'll love it.

we may start winning again, but don't hold your breath for Finebaum, to talk us up

I was surfing channels and stopped at the SECN with his show on. He was moderating a heated debate between two cfb fans from the state of Alabama who sounded like they enough teeth together to make a partial and just enough intelligence to separate lettuce from cabbage. I stayed on the channel for approx. 30 seconds

I understand why most people say what do about him now.

Ironic post is ironic.

Actually he has stated he's not an expert on football. His show is about drawing in viewers and he does that by being a dick, having crazy callers, and talking about football a little bit

You're correct. He found his niche, just don't think his shtick will work long term for a national audience.

His shtick is not very good IMHO. An embarassment. Please God, don't even let it work short term. Get him off and give us real sportscasters.

So far, for me, SEC Network is only going to be good for the live games. The previously played games are cut to fit the 2 hr format and it kills a lot of the joy of watching a game. I have yet to see a sports program that held my interest or I liked. Even the preseason shows of each team should be better. I put it on poor production, writing, and the choice of talking heads ..all.

Granted, it's brand new so it can only ger better. As someone said in another thread, you can't fall off the floor.

I have a good bud who works in the publishing industry in NYC. Finebaum's new book (I don't think it's come out just yet) is being published by his firm. Anyhow, he's met Finebaum a time or two, and he told me he's actually a pretty good dude. Very friendly, cordial, and considerate. He said the radio shtick must just be to garner listeners and fans.

Knows his stuff? Maybe about football administration/coaching changes. Otherwise he's not a knowledgeable sports guy at all.

I like guys like Finebaum and Clay Travis. They make a living by riling up rednecks and trolling fanbases.

Their show agendas are so simple. Just toss out a barb and the mouthbreathers will fill the airwaves. Day after day. Week after week.
