Paul Harris Quitting Football

Sad if this is true...however, how to we keep having the luck with players who's parents are deathly ill. Arnett went back to Mich St. for the same reason I believe. Wasn't Bourque the same way?

Bourque broke his vagina after getting crushed by McCullers...they have special clinics to treat that affliction in Louisiana

Saw where yesterday Jalen Hurd tweeted out he would be wearing #1 next year which is Harris' #. Wish this kid the best. He was actually one of my favorite incoming recruits last year. Hope he's able to deal with the adversity he's facing now, that his Mom is ok, and that he finds success in the future.

evidently he was a kid that was first in the football offices since he got on campus. Sounds like it's all been too much for him with the family issue. Hope he doesn't quit football and shows up somewhere soon.
Time heals.

I'm hearing Paul Harris is quitting the team and going back home to be with his sick mother in Maryland.

This sounds like an unsubstantiated rumor to me. There is also a rumor that he requested #9 for next year, which is why Hurd can get #1.

Paul had a lingering hammy issue this season, That's why he didn't see the field as much.

I think everyone here has heard me fuss about the kid not getting any playing time this year (not like he had a bunch of upperclassmen ahead of him)...so, I was really hoping he'd have a break out season, next year.

Kid has the size and speed we need, on this team. But I was afraid Azzani keeping him on the bench might compel him to leave. Travis Henry was the same way, when he was buried on the depth chart. His mom talked him out of it, and he had big career, here.

He may have had some issues after he got into the NFL, but that kid could pound the rock, and deliver some wicked stiff arms.

I hope that's what it was. Paul, if you happen to read your own press (ie, these forums), I hope you stay, and really give it 110% to try and win a starting spot next fall. I think you have the physical tools/talent to do it...so, stick with it. Most freshman go through this.

Doesn't CBJ have a press conference coming up soon? If so perhaps he can address whether we have any players transferring or that are no longer a part of the team. I don't really care for these threads about Tom Smith, Harris and others until they are verified by the school.

this is a win win he gets to go home and transfer and we get a spot for another croot and this is one less person that will have to get run off

I haven't heard anything about this, but Jalen Hurd did tweet that he will wear #1 next year. That was Paul's number this year.

Doesn't matter if this story is true or not. Jalen can have any number he wants!:hi:
GO VOLS!

These situations come up all the time with so many young men in the program. Bullock is a perfect example. As all of us have questioned, getting to the 85 player limit was going to be difficult, and some players had to go. I suspect that Jones has been aware of Harris' situation and has incorporated his departure into the 2014 planning. In fact, I would bet that CBJ has already talked to the Maryland coach and others in that area about Harris as a possible hardship transfer. That's what good coaches do to help their kids. If this report is true, wish Harris and his family all the best.

:loco: Would you say that about Marquez North? Why then would you say it about another freshman WR, who is 6'4," fast and was also a 4* coming out of HS?

He could very well have been the starter next fall, opposite of North. We don't know. Not all of our star WR's ball out as freshmen. Some take a season or two.
