Pay Heupel $10,000,000 now for 10 years

The business side of me says let's just allow this to play out and not throw money away before we need to. We can match any offer from anywhere in the country college or NFL. Why would you do that before you had to? Heup is making a king's ransom as it is. He's happy. No-one is knocking on that door, not yet anyways. I mean look at the coaches who have just prematurely been given $10 million a year and how that's worked out. We can pay it, but what's the hurry? He ain't going nowhere. Opposing fans think he is gonna leave but they're gonna be disappointed lol.

Let’s let him get some wins. He may not be the droid we are looking for. If he can keep it together through next season, and we finish both ranked in thr top 10 then let loose the dogs of Jimmy Haslams bootlegger bounty.

That is less than he makes now.... add a zero. Saban just signed a 10 year 98mil contract... We shouldn't go that high... but larger bonus package and healthy raise are in order.

Saban (Bama) - $11.7m
Smart (UGa) - $11.25m
Kelly (LSU) - $9.5m
Fisher (A&M) - $7.5m

I certainly think being in the $10m club should mean you've won a national title. USCw threw that much at Lincoln Riley, and he may end up being worth it. Then again, he may not. I believe in proving it first.

I think we all recognize that LSU went to the ridiculous end of things tossing almost $10m at Brian Kelly. That was stupid.

So I certainly think we ought to pay Heupel north of what A&M is paying Fisher. Josh has already proven himself to be worth that, I think. But not yet $10m; win a title first.

So maybe $8m a year?

The other part of that is holding off any suitors. So that could change the math. But short of that coming up, I think $8m a year might be about right.

Go Vols!

And they're off...... 8 million is on the outside and 10 million is making a move, but look out 16 million is coming around the corner and looking like a winner.

Supply and demand determine value. Do you believe there’s a large number of coaches we could hire to achieve similar results?

The obvious answer is no. Paying high salaries for someone bringing high value isn’t “overpaying”.

His name isn't even mentioned in current coaching searches. He's not even on the radar. Even if he was we have the resources to top any offer someone gives him. Not to mention the trust and relationship he has with AD White? So tell me the rationale behind giving him $10,000,000 tomorrow???

I already gave you the reason. Supply and demand. The lack of supply of coaches who can do what he’s done, determines his value.

You’re welcome for the Econ 101 lesson

He's getting a market rate right now. Stupid to give him a raise tomorrow when he doesn't even have another offer out there.

And another lesson for you, everyone is replaceable. I don't care who they are, how great they think they are or whatever, there's always somebody else capable and willing to replace them. I dont anticipate Director White bungling like previous administrations, but I could be wrong there.
