Paying college athletes

As a fan, I feel like I'm missing out on a lot because they won't pay the players:

- they stopped making EA Sports games (and we never had the real names of players when it did exist).

- Tennessee is one of the highest revenue universities, so paying players would give us a huge advantage over several teams that have had a lot more success than us in recent history

- in that same vein, how much is Bama going to pay their 4th DT? He could be starting for us, and we would be willing to pay him more than they would. That levels things vs. dealing with 85-man amateur rosters and a finite number of quality players.

- the guys at FCS and bad FBS schools don't belong on the same field as power houses. separating paid college teams from amateur would put an end to these dog **** games.
And Harvard/Vanderbilt/Yale/Stanford/Michigan could pay even more. gtfo.

I've never booed an 18 year old before, but if they start getting paid they better ****ing produce.

question for those who think that college players should be paid:

if an athlete doesn't get drafted, then will they expect a stipend until they find a job out in the real world? you know that it's going to be someone else's fault if they don't get drafted and that the world still owes them...

When I was in grad school I had my tuition waved and was paid a stipend. I’m not sure why a similar situation couldn’t be set up for athletes.

It's really simple: they get whatever they negotiate.

You think ivy league would outbid everyone? Why do they spend so little now and why would that change? Why is that a reason to oppose the system either way? Gtfo

Let’s use the media profession as an example.

“All you media members.... what if you were 18 years old and ESPN came to you and said "Hey you have a lot of potential. We are going to pay for your education as a journalist. But we aren't going to stop there. We are going to give you access to the best studios and equipment in the world. We are going to let you intern under the best in the business, shadow their every move etc. Would you look at ESPN and say, "I'm entitled to your profit".... no that's stupid and college players shouldn't say it to the NCAA

Transfer this to any profession. The access they have to nutritionist, trainers, PT, world class facilities, top flight instruction, etc is worth its weight in gold. And they are not nfl ready out of HS. I’m tired of entitlement

While Espn is paying for the intern's education, is the university going to require me to make a five figure donation for the privilege of buying tickets in order to watch said intern hone his craft?
