PC Graphics card discussion

RTX 4090 reviews are out today. Looks awesome, and the raw power is just amazing. However the ~$1600+ price tag plus just display port 1.4 (not 2.0) and PCI-e Gen 4 (not Gen 5) will limit it's long term viability. If AMD prices their new RDNA 3 cards right and the performance is similar they might have an opportunity to take some market share. The mid-market ($500-$800) is really were the fight is going to happen.

Really curious where the RDNA3 it priced and performance. Curious to see how the 4090 will sell with mining in the state it's in. How many gamers are going to fork over $1600?

How many miners? I wonder what the percentage of gamers are gaming at 4K 120Hrz or 8 60Hrz? Based on the sales of the new AMD Ryzen 7000 processors, I think the market seems to be saturated a bit. Obviously, Ryzen 7000 requires a new MB, RAM, etc... which is a tough sale right now with the economy. I'm sure there will be some first adapters that need to have the latest and greatest no matter what.

I can’t seem to find any info on this, but has anyone seen if the upcoming RDNA3 GPUs will be compatible with AM4 X570 motherboards?

I’m 99% certain they will be as they would not sell many if AMD made them AM5 exclusive. Probably just answered my own question there, but didn’t know if anyone has come across the answer to this.

Those prices seem too good to be true. And 12 GB GDDR6 VRAM for the 7800XT? When the previous gen had 16? Nah.

I would be shocked if they did bring it down to 12 GB. IMO it’s going to be 16 GB again most likely. Small chance they push it to 20 GB.

As for prices I see it being $50-80 more than they are showing like $650 for the 6800XT while keeping the 6900XT at the $999 mark.
I agree.

Upgraded my CPU today (bought). Going from i7 10700k to i7 13700KF. Currently have z590 board so will have to upgrade MB to get the 1700 socket. Don’t care too much about over clocking CPU, any recommendations on boards? Don’t use Wi-Fi, not interested in over clocking, prefer to stay in DDR4 as I don’t see the real advantages for what I do to justify DDR5. Any suggestions?

Yall too slow lol :) Ended up going with a Gigabyte Aorus Elite Z690 DDR5 board. Prices are a bit lower than what I thought with the 6000mhz RAM so decided to go ahead and get it. Will be my first gigabyte MB, but have seen really good reviews for this board.........plus it was right under 200 :)

Oh man the upgrade from an i7 10700k to i7 1300kf has been amazing for me. Never realized how bottlenecked my CPU was. the 10700K was great, but this CPU is so fact. Really tell a difference in large open area games like MFS where it improved my fps tremendously. Very happy with the new hardware. Installed a new LCD screen for my H100 cooler, really makes my build look so much better IMO.

i7 13700kf
z690 Aorus Elite DDR5
32gb G Skill R5 DDR5
MSI Gaming Trio Z 3080
