In an interview with Sports Ills. last Sunday, Pearl indicated that he was embarrassed by the violations in his program, but hopes that they don't lead to termination because he runs a clean program.

Don't say that you're sorry 'cause you're not, when I know you're only sorry you got caught.

First i will say i love bruce pearl hope he stays and hope he does well.

Is it inappropriate to play the "run a clean program" card? While you doing an interview because you lied to your organizations "cops" about breaking the rules?

Just asking....

It appears to me that he is in serious denial and continues to lie. How could you tell any one that you have violated rules to the extent that you hope it doesn't lead to termination and in the same breath indicate that you run a clean program?

the best thing to do in situations like this is just be quiet for a while.

True, but that goes against everyone of this man's instincts.

That logic only applies to people with a modicum of decorum who aren't completely shameless.

I would say it goes against most people's instincts. Whether it be a work issue, a woman or a car wreck the best idea is to just close your mouth (at least from my experience)

Hatvol, have you ever told a lie? Even a teeny weeny white lie? IF YOU HAVE YOU SHOULD BE FIRED!!!!!!!!!!!! Great logic.

I don't like it one bit that Pearl lied after putting himself in a situation where he thought he had to. But, I for one, don't want to have our BB program in shambles like FB is now because of words uttered by Pearl.

You probably have never liked Pearl, but he is a very competitive person and is doing what he believes needs to be done to run a top program. I don't like what he did, but I don't want to roll the dice on a new coach now and suffer through a football like decade.

I think his "job security" will come down to what sanctions the 'AA imposes on the program....can the 'AA fire MH as punishment maybe :crossfingers:

If Pearl leaves, he will have done it to himself. There is no one else to blame. I just don't understand why he continues making comments that only make the situation look worse for him. How can he tout running a clean program under the current circumstances? He may need to look at the American's with Disability Act to try to secure some counseling to deal with his problems prior to the university looking to fire him.

Your post might have at least a scant bit of credibility if I hadn't already expressly stated I don't think Pearl should be fired for this. As it is, it's just more Pearl worhipping idiocy.

He only lied about the 97 phone calls he and his staff made to recruits. He didn't buy recruits.quit acting like he did.
Good job leaving out the part about being unbale to identify his own house to 'AA investigators. You sheep are certainly staying on message.

I hope we fire Pearl so we can get back to basketball the way it should be in Tennessee. That'll be fun.
