But if you want to fire Pearl over this then don't tell me that Kiffin's poor character shouldn't have bothered us and that Dooley's emphasis on character is misplaced.

He's right. It's so funny that the same guys taking up for Kiffin and saying "win at all costs" are the first to toss boulders Pearl's way.

I don't fit into either of those categories, personally.

I find it funny though that the NCAA is mean and wicked until this happens, then suddenly they are just doing their jobs and it's completely Pearl's fault.

I liked Kiffin and staff because it was the short route to upgrading talent. I like Pearl's recruiting, charisma and salesmanship. I like him for our program that was in the wilderness. I don't like the coaching style whatsoever.

Not sure how I fit in the daily psychoanalysis and logic monitoring around this place, but it's not Chinese Arithmetic.

You don't. Which is even more evidence that the theory has it's flaws. You just can't put people in a box. There are a couple of individuals on here which fit that description to a "T" though.

Yours is a stance that I can completely respect. Obviously you weren't who I was referring to.

I never loved Kiffin as much as the rest of the fans and I certainly do not hate him as much as the majority of them do either.

Yeah, Kiffin's contstant moralizing about how he and only he had the fortitutde to "do the right thing' got so tiring. Oh, wait. He wasn't the phony hypocrite. That's the other guy.

I've not read this whole thread, but scanned enough to feel confident in saying that the only difference, at this time, between BP and LK is that LK dumped ya'll and BP is still there. No one was hating on LK last year when the secondaries were piling up. But when he walked away like you never mattered everyone got butt hurt, deservedly so, BP is still ur coach so you're defending him. If this was Calipari, Pastner, Billy D, Thuggins or a list of others you'd be calling for their heads and making fun of their programs. It's BP so the punishment is enough in your eyes...you'd be saying the rest of us deserved the NCAA death penalty

The difference is that Kiffin was an arse who was going to do and say anything to get the program back on top - he made no excuses, nor did he attempt to hide the rather obvious fact that he would do whatever was necessary. He was a cheating jerk, but it was what it was, and he made no illusions about it.

Conversely, Pearl has long portrayed himself as an upstanding man of unquestioned purity, operating within the exacting letter of the law - all the while, not only was he cheating, but he then lied about it.

Both are less-than-ideal characters, but only one is a hypocrite, and that's Pearl.

i'm not sure what memphis has to do with me, and i'm not here to flame. i agree with Pearl being a hypocrite, but as an outsider watching him "paint up", boat around with girls half his age, grope reporters and the rest, you could see the guy through not so orange colored glasses.

if i'm not mistaken you're coach is under investigation for funnelling money to players through a lawyer, not mine. ya'll take this to heart and you shouldn't. i've posted on other boards with vol fans for a long time. i'm really not here to flame, just discussion.

I guessed I missed that you were a UK not a Memphis fan, my mistake, both schools have been such an embarrassment to the sport of football for the last few decades, and have the same school colors and similar mascots, and it gets confusing which group of inbred, illiterate morons I'm dealing with.


You may not be here to flame, but if I were you I'd worry about my own program, because in about 7 weeks I'll be celebrating the 26th Anniversary of stomping your Wildcats into the ground with a cigar, glass of Jack Daniels and plans to urinate on Adolph Rupp's grave.
