Always Sunny - Troll Toll on Vimeo

You gotta pay the troll toll if you want to get into that boy's hole!

Matta looks like a troll and Craft is a boy with a hole.

At minimum this causes us to miss 15 minutes of an early practice this year. We still go 36-1, SEC Champs, and Final Four contenders.

Meh, if this is the goods they have on Pearl, I don't see a whole lot coming from it. The lying is still the key to the whole thing. The recruits visiting his house might have been breaking a rule, but it's nothing to get bent out of shape for.

i have not followed any pearl threads because i just didn't want to think about it for awhile...

so, those who have, can you please update me: what is the most likely outcome of this debacle?

The NCAA is anti-semitic.

thanks. i indulge my fair share of sarcasm- vol fans pretty much need it these days- but i actually would like to know
Hard to project an outcome as long as new information is being made public. When new stories about violations quit breaking, it'll be much easier to predict the ultimate outcome.

thanks. what would the outcome likely be if all has already come to light?

No major violations so far.

For penalties the NCAA primarily looks at competitive advantage conferred. That is why Reggie Bush getting hundreds of thousands of $$$ and being a superstar for USC was a big advantage.

Having Craft and Selby over to your house for burgers before they decommit and go to other schools is not a big advantage.

I don't think Pearl would be terminated. I could see the 'AA docking UT two or three scholarships on top of the self imposed penalties. Hard to gauge what they would do regarding a postseason ban. Until the USC decision, they hadn't used that hammer much recently.

so i hear what you're saying but it sounds like your own take on how the rules are interpreted... what is the precedent? actual case?

How is a player already at a school getting money from an agent a competitive advantage, versus breaking rules to spend extra time with a prospect who is still deciding where to go?

For that matter, what competitve advantage did Dez Bryant get from lying to the 'AA?

Hat have you heard anything about this from people in your circles? Other coaches reactions and the consensus from college basketball circles in general?

Dez Bryant was punished as an individual. Hat you are certainly not stupid enough to have a problem understanding the Bryant case...it has been a while since law school but distinguishing that is hard for you?

The NCAA hates being lied to. They punished Bryant by holding him out. The pound of flesh that is Bruce Pearl losing 1.5 million dollars and not being allowed to recruit off campus will not be lost on them. And finally whether they acknowledge it or not, Bruce only being allowed to call on the University approved phones really hurts him and hurts our program. We will be one of the only programs in the country at the disadvantage of following the retarded contact rules.

The concept of institutional problems throughout the sports programs and lying to the AA investigators are the issues at hand right now. We have seen recently two very stiff penalties given for each. I pray that there are no other serious issues in football.

Other than uproarious laughter? Not much. I did have a coach point out how it's interesting that Jim Harrick got fired a year and a half after winning a national title for lying about the number of people who attended a dinner and Pearl is somehow still empoyed.

Is Matta, assuming he's the one who turned UT in, going to be an outcast as well?

With the collective "serves you right" mentality that coaches across the nation have seemingly developed toward Brucey, its hard to say.

This could be similar to one of those instances where they they catch Bruce in a corner, throw a sheet over his head and give him the old blanket party beatdown. Then everyone walks away saying they didn't see anything.

The fact that more to the story came out within a week after Pearl had his press conference doesn't encourage me very much. I also believe that we may see a little snowball effect as coaches who might have some info leak it to investigators. Don't get me wrong many of those guys would never turn another program in under normal circumstances but from what I gather from Hat and the general attitude many in coaching circles have for Pearl. in this case they just might.

exactly. take ut out and then there's ky, and fl. also one less team to worry about in the sec tournament. which leads to seeds in the ncaa. thanks bruce.
