Pearl isn't coming back next year but neither is Martin

I don't think the people making definitive statements that Pearl won't be back (such as the op) have anymore inside info than the people that think he will return. The only thing I'm sure of is that TBA will be an ugly scene next year if Martin is replaced with another unknown mid-major coach with no NCAA Tourney appearances when it's evident that Pearl does want the job back. I wouldn't want to be Dave Hart next year when we finish butt naked last in the SEC. To some degree. the UT administration has to care about what the fan base and boosters want.

20,000+ fans agree. I know that I, for one, will not invest any more time or money in a losing cause. It seems like an easy decision to me...

Here's the order of how it all went down from my POV...

1. CBP got fired and I knew hambone was going to screw things up.

2. Was at work and got a message that Cuonzo Martin was our new HC.

3. Said WTF (not what the blank, but who the blank)

4. Googled his name, wasn't impressed because he came from a weak conference but never made the tourney.

5. Went on VN (pre-stoked4zo account) and saw the epic meltdown.

6. Like an idiot made my screen name a little after, and now I'm left with regrets.

7. Cuonzo craps the bed for 3 years, I, and others lose complete interest in the program

8. We BBB and the excitement is back and all is back to normal

All would be back to normal...except your **** name. Lol

That is somebody simply looking at the record from the outside. The way he constructs his roster and his coaching style would not work at UTK. That would be an epic failure.

I think it will still be tough to overcome all the negative with his departure, but it not a total impossibility more of a wait and see. CCM still has a chance to save his job. He wins this last four games he want be leaving.

I think that if we can get Pearl, we should get him.

Actually I went to Middle and attended a lot of games....he only plays a lot of guards and tweener guys bc they are much more plentiful...not exactly getting the pick of the litter in regards to recruiting. He almost beat UT with Pearl. He is energetic, which is a quality we need...wouldn't have to pay much for him either

Uhhh....What? When? I was just about to post that I attended a game in November 2007 where Tennessee beat Middle Tenn by about 70 points - something like 110-40. The darn biggest butt kicking I have ever seen and Pearl called off the dogs way early. We could have won that game by 90 points and I'm not exaggerating here. Now, Middle Tenn did beat Cuonzo the Gonzo in the NIT two years ago.
