Pearl not welcome at ESPN?

Yup. I've made it clear that I'm a bandwagon NBA fan. I like the Bulls, mainly because of Watson, Noah, and Rose, but when I was watching the Eastern Conference Finals, I found myself cheering for the Heat despite my preconceived notions. I was a LeBron fan before CJ got to the Bulls, and I really wanted him to win the championship. I just think it's ridiculous how America treats LeBron. Did he REALLY do anything that bad? No. "The Decision" was a bit much, but was it really something to absolutely hate the guy over? I don't think so. People completely throw aside the fact that he was raising money for charity with that event. I will be cheering for LeBron for the rest of his days, or until he wins 6 championships.

I thought he was classy how he tried to punk Dirk when he was sick...LeBron's a great guy.

And you cheered for the Bulls because they had Watson, Noah and Rose? Makes perfect sense to me...

if you disagree with Robert Montgomery Knight, just go ahead and assume you're wrong.

I would really cheer for him and give him all the respect in the world if he would've stayed in Cleveland and won them a few championships. I hope the Heat go broke and lebron can't cash his checks. This site is for posting about TENNESSEE VOLUNTEERS let's keep it that way. Jmo!

How could you blame LeBron for wanting to leave the trashiest city on earth where they surrounded him with imbeciles for coaches and teammates. It was nothing short of a GREAT decision to leave Cleveland.

And someone asked me about it, completely unprovoked. I started this damn thread about Pearl, so don't tell me to keep it Vols. You guys are the ones perpetuating this conversations at this point.

I could care less about where he plays ball. I'm more concerned with how he did it and how he couldn't back up any of the expectations he promised.

And I'm certain Dick Vitale did as well.

negative. CBP recounted a story once telling how he and DV almost came to blows in the tunnel before a game shortly after the story became public.

During the same telling of the story, CBP said that Bob Knight called him personally to give him his support for what he had done.

Hiring Pearl to flip burgers right now would be a bad decision much less hiring him to be a commentator.

And the OP liked a team bc it has players from UT, Florida and Memphis? There is no logical way you can be a fan of all three of those teams.

Then he switches to the Heat mid playoff series and doesn't understand why people dislike Lebron? ...maybe it's bc he's the most arrogant player in sports

*thread hijacked*
So getting to the NBA Finals with a brand new team isn't living up to expectation?! If you told any coach/ manager that if you made this team and in their first year they would reach the NBA Finals but not win it said person would take that deal. You can say he hasn't lived up to them until after a few more seasons. The Heat did well to reach the Finals stop hating on Lebron. Also to the poster that said something about the dirk joke was Dwayne wade not the provoker of the joke. People always seem to miss that point. Not to mention Dirk's name wasn't even mentioned.

Later on down the road Vitale had a change of heart. Hence my flip flop comment.

I believe every word Bruce Pearl says.

They can do what they want, but they're missing out on a great personality. Think what you want of his tenure at UT, but he would be great as a basketball analyst.

I agree. I, actually, was looking forward to him doing basketball games next season. ESPN is making a mistake by not hiring him. He loves being behind a camera and would be a great fit for this job despite all his shortcomings at UT.

cool.

I don't see what purpose making up those two comments would be.

I guess it is more fashionable for you to just hate him blindly and dismiss everything he says because he lied about a bbq.

This has been addressed ad nauseam on here. But it wasn't just a bbq.

espn shouldn't hire pearl though, they need to maintain their image as the ethics patrol. that's exactly why they employ craig james and lou holtz.
