Pearl on last play

If Pearl remains our coach I wish to goodness he would quit recruiting the type players he has now. Find some intelligent players that understand the game first, not just the playground mentality we have now. We have taken a season where we should be 23-2 and turned it to 15-10. What a disappointment.

4-10 from the line on the road. 40%. Plus, missing the front end of a 1-and-1 costs you another. That's pitiful.

I'm sure I wasn't alone jumping up and down and yelling at the TV for a timeout with 14 seconds left.

Without this, no conversation...FT's lost this game, specifically the LACK of them....

Terrible last shot, but these are 20 year old kids who are trying their best to win. Sometimes they lose focus. Gotta get the ball in the paint on the last shot. Also, our guy missed the front end of a 1 and one that could have iced it too!!! Could have been "game over" so don't forget that either.

Melvin Goins is the one that needs to sit! I'm sick of ending games with Goins launching 3 point bricks!!! And for all of you idiots wanting Pearl gone, check the past 50 years of Tenn Basketball and get back with me!!!!! Goins had the ball,he had to be the one that ignored Pearl!!!

I agree on frustrations with a team so talented just to play so braindead at times. The missed FT's are one thing but the 4-5 lazy passes that led to wide open layups for Florida was killing me. And you morons yelling for Pearl to go are just that ( Morons) he's one of the best coaches around, he has brought TN BB to the forefront, young players all around now look at UT and Pearl brings in talent that we never use to get. We would go back to being a team like Auburn without Pearl! He wil get it fixed! If this is our down yrs now, what would we of gave for a yr like this 8 yrs ago?

Pretty pointed words sport...your anger is limiting your ability to think clearly.

If Pearl is the genius that you proclaim, then he should understand how to motivate, communicate, and coach this group of players.....that my friend is not happening.

I'll say it again...Tony Jones made these kids play like a team, more so than with Pearl calling the shots. I think Pearl if too rigid in his thought process...does not see that his style of play is not working with this talent level. He needs to make adjustments, until then expect more of the same clueless, chaotic endings.

Pearl said Vols didn't run play that was called in final seconds, and he has no idea why. Wanted Hopson/Tatum taking Parsons to the rim.

Pearl said he didn't call timeout because they'd have scored if they just ran the play he called. He's furious at several things.

he should be furious..
Goins, made a bad decision

No, Jones didn't. He was a babysitter and got a stretch of easy games to pad his record, which was still 5-3. Pearl has had three games to coach this calendar year, at UConn, at Kentucky and at Florida. He's had the more difficult run of it lately.

I don't understand why they would not run the play. CBP recruited all of them but one, and he helped create him. I mean, if they run that one play they win right? So why would they not do what he told them?

Maybe they just don't care all that much for what you have to say, Coach.

Maybe, just maybe, there was miscommunication. Oh, but that couldn't happen could it? Mistakes don't happen do they? It's not the end of the world. Geez!!!!!!!!:mf_surrender:

Brucey is making use of hindsight is 20/20. He's trying to take heat off his abject failure as a coach by saying after the fact what he SHOULD have done...

If I had any respect left for him as a player, well that's gone now.

Which is exactly what most everyone on this, and every, message board does.

Bruce is getting paid to win games....foresight is key. Woulda, shoulda, coulda....that his not a coach's perogative, rather the domain of the armchair coaching staff.

Camera zoomed in on S H face, and you could tell, by the expression, the play was a bust. Goins, just doesn't get it, and who do we replace him with next season. He is the only guard we have that can get past a top defender.
