Pearl says, "No leaders."

There are no leaders anywhere. With Coach Pearl's mind on a thousand things at once, no player or players have stepped up and assumed some kind of leadership role to lead this team to where they want to go. All I see on the court are players trying to outdo the other or trying to put on a show. It's every man for himself on the court every game. I am very disappointed.

Pearl, naturally, has to lead, but it's all for naught without players who lead on the court. The thing is, you can't just make someone a leader. Certain people can step up and take the mantle, but real leaders are largely the ones who are naturally so. Scotty isn't one of those people. I don't fault him, that's simply his disposition and he's doing his job very well at this point in time. I think Tobias has those qualities, unfortunately, he's too young to garner the respect of the upper-classmen, who could lead and aren't, right now. To me, someone like Brian Williams or Melivn Goins have the potential to be leaders on this team, but aren't doing so.

Call me crazy, but I'd think the guy making 2 mil is the one who should be leading.

What? According to many on here, he is almost a martyr. Interesting concept you have: The guy with the big job and big $ taking responsibility. Seems right to me. Guess that makes us nega-Vols

You can gripe about the lack of team leadership if you're a pro coach and somebody else picked the players. Pretty freaking hollow if you're a college coach in year six and you recruited everybody on the team.

Goins didn't pull any punches. He told Griff, "leadership starts the top."

Wow, he said that? Haven't seen that yet. Interesting, Wes Rucker has been shooting down any idea that the AA trouble is affecting the team's response to him. Been tweeting about it all night, guess that Goins quote may prove him wrong.

What I've come to learn about Pearl is after you take away all of the loud promotion, big flashy personality, there's not a lot there in terms of hard core coaching...player eval, development, game prep and game management.

Whatever leadership skills he had he pissed away with his flaunting of the rules and subsequent lies.

Stick a fork in him because he's done.

I guess Hopson and Harris combining for 50 of the 69 points scored is bad leadership? Pearl should talk more about the lack of anyone else helping them out. Those two guys are carrying this team and Scotty is doing all he can. Harris is looking better as of late.

It's not those two guys fault Pearl didn't recruit anyone to help them out. He threw his team under the bus.

All of what you just said was good in the early years. Tennessee needed that kind of guy. Now that they're established a little they need a coach. We have a used car salesman.

With all due respect and in fear of starting a jihad, Pearl has not always been the best example of how to control your team.

I didn't think those comments were as bad as the ones around the fans not helping elevate the team's play
