Isn't disagreeing with hat grounds for banning on Volnation?:p

Somebody dig up the post from last year where hat said he was watching the end of the Memphis game with tears rolling down his face. Or the post where he said when Kiffin was hired that Hamilton would be "two for two in big time hires"

It has been proven without a doubt this year that the Bruce Pearl worship has been overblown...don't see how that can even be argued.

I haven't seen anyone say that they are disappointed that Pearl is our coach. It has only been routinely pointed out that he is not one of the ten best coaches in the country.

I think everyone appreciates the fact that we are in the tourney, but there is simply no sense in pretending that this team is ever going to consistently go deep in the NCAA with Pearl at the helm.

For diehard basketball fans (I don't know nearly as much about the game as some on the board) that is a little hard to swallow. We want to play in BCS games on the gridiron very consistently. Is it too much to ask out of our basketball program as well?

I don't think it is too much to ask but the expectations of going to a final four after losing two of your best guards and two more of his players to off the court mistakes is a little high (pardon the pun) IMO. Pearl himself said he did not have high expectations for this team. He has to reload quickly and get some real talent in here. Hopson may take some time to turn into a real player, but we need a NBA player in here soon. Can he do it, time will tell but I think he has earned that time.

I'm in no way a Pearl hater, but his expectations changed well into the season (after the Auburn game if I remember correctly). Before that meltdown of a game (if I'm remembering the right game), he held high expectations. The public expectations seems to be another trip to the Sweet 16 or at least close.

"UT fans can take pride in being the first basketball team in SEC history to finish ahead of Kentucky four consecutive years."

Is this true? First time any SEC program has done that? If so, that is awesome!

Boom goes the dynamite. :)

What a difference one season, or even half a season, can make.

The only thing that would stop Selby from ending up in the NBA is himself.
When I was in Philadelphia, I asked an assistant coach who I consider near impeccable in judging players, both talent and character, about Selby. He looked at me, smiled, and said "You mean the next Jonathan Hargett?" Take that for what it's worth.

i only read the 1st page of the thread, but who's calling for Pearl's head?!?!?!

We're 500% better than any TN team I remember in the last 20 years.

You can argue that for one, isolated season that TN had talented players capable of winning -- but in terms of our program, we're better than we have EVER been.

How could someone call for Pearl's head, because the alternative is going back to the dark ages???

Why would anyone WANT that for the basketball program?

It's naive to think that we could hire a "new" coach that would come in and maintain the momentum that Pearl has started -- look around the conference.

I just googled him..............

Damn, his only year at WVU wasn't exactly NBA material. Averaged 14 points in 28.5 minutes of play. What happened to him? I see that he's now playing in some crap semi-pro league.
