Pearl's Pointguards

In my opinion, one of the ways to judge a point guard is assist to turnover ratio, usually if they are out of control and don't distribute well it affects their assist to turnover ratio. I think that Bradshaws ratio was exceptional, even more so since he didn't actually play the point.
There is much more to PG than that lone ratio. Can he beat defenders to pressure the d? Can he get the ball to the mismatch? Does ge recognize the D? Can he keep someone in front of him on D?

But you did include Dane? I don't undrstand your point here.

Ok, CJ and Dane (who didn't play point) and were neither recruited by Bruce both are reflective of my vision of a true point guard moreso than anyone that Bruce has landed. The last 3 appear to be right hand dribble happy, somewhat out of control, lacking court vision and don't penetrate nor distribute the ball well at times. If you want to throw JP only dribble left Prince in there as well, for the insane experiment when he played point then feel free.

I hope golden can shoot the ball better than what we got at pg right now. I hate when maze and goins shoot anything past 15 ft.

Agree, I was just saying that is one tool used to judge them. I think Goins can keep someone in front of him on D but that does not make him a good point guard because he lacks some of the other tools/skills required to be a good point.

Tony Harris could blow by everyone for a layup.

Pearl pointed out that we do not have anyone in the backcourt right now who is effectively penetrating. I think Ware, Golden and McRae will be a big improvement on that.

You apparently know nothing of the situation. Fortson's idiocy killed his team last season. He keeps Washington from being the #1 option and they clearly had a better than 2 win team. Fortson is a POS.

Marino gets plenty of credit for dragging his outfit to a SB game. He also gets beaten up, rightfully so, for having a truckload of hollow stats. Fortson doesn't belong in that argument, as he is a team killer.
POSs everywhere are offended. Rightfully so.

Pearl needs to get a point guard who is not interested in padding his stats but everyone elses. The best Teams in the country are the ones who have a scrappy point guard who can distribute the basketball and can penetrate and make plays happen.

Our point guards are game managers. They are not ask to do to much just get the ball in motion. But really are outside shooting presence is not something to get excited about just yet...If we start knocking down long jumpers and making more 3's then our point guards will be better then they look. Right now teams are taking the let em shoot and lets not get out rebounded approach. We have to knock down shots to create lanes for Point Guards to move through.

For example is Scotty Hopson, Tatum or Tyler Smith were more of a threat shooting on the perimeter then opposing players would have to stay with those guys more often instead of dropping down to help on a drive. We have to start shooting better or we will struggle this year getting to the basket.

All Hopson has going for him right now is that he has shot the 3 well in the majority of the games, except for last night and a couple games in the Paradise Jam. If I'm a coach, I'm defending Hopson from three and inviting him to drive because he can't finish at the rim. He missed about 5 layups last night.

Hopson is not playing well now. He does not finish on drives and doesn't shoot outside well when defended, especially with physical players. He has much to improve on. We, as Pearl pointed out, have no one who can go to the hole and finish right now.

Move Tyler Smith to PG...he is basically a point forward anyway.

When Bone becomes eligible, we will have a truck load of guards. We need to recruit some posts for next year.
