hahaha.

I do not know if Oku would be good. I know he would be fast. I want to see someone fast who has body control while at top speed play PG for TN. We have not had that since Tony Harris IMO.

Is it just me or does it feel like the point guard position is dying out a little bit?

It's just you.

Chris Paul, Deron Williams, Rajon Rondo ect... were all college pg's not long ago.

And there are a ton of good point gaurds out there right now.

You're longing for the days of Tony Harris?

Just watch him return kickoffs and how could he not be exceptional in basketball?

He didn't go the JUCO route when other schools turned him down, therefore BP would never recruit him.

Pearl has a special place in his heart for Retreads.

Yes I do wish that last year we had junior Tony Harris instead of junior Bobby Maze.

A relative to Maze argument is similar to the silliness that keeps being trotted out about "do you people not remember the Wade Houston era..." Of course he's better than Maze overall, but he doesn't value the ball near as much. Harris was the worst crunch time decision maker I recall at PG for the Vols. Stats just don't tell the basketball story. It's what you tried to do with the UF - MSU game.

What? He was a better defender than Maze, he was faster, he could create his own shot off the dribble.

You think he had a bad T/O to Assist ratio?

He did get cold sometimes from 3 yet kept jacking them up there, and that did frustrate me when we lost to UNC in the NCAA's, but he was a big part of them getting to a Sweet 16 under Green.

You cannot dismiss an entire season of stats and say they do not tell the story. That is as bad as people who said Dane Bradshaw should be SEC POY because stats do not tell the story.

he shot 40% from the field. Why do we care if he could get his own?

I have no idea what the ratio was. What I do know is that I, as a fan, didn't want the ball in his hands at the end of a game.

Your stats analysis is a disaster. It's akin to the one that was tossed out to support the extreme level of player development we've seen at UT of late.

Tony Harris ran end to end against UF to win that game with a layup after he blew by their team. Put the ball in his hands against Purdue and watch him squeeze between the guys who kept Maze up at the top dribbling around for 12 seconds.

Bruce Pearl like Dean Smith likes to avoid end game timeouts so the other team cannot set a defense. T Harris would have been money in that type of a system.

BP does not like calling timeouts because he realizes what most of us here already know.

If it comes down to drawing up plays against a competing coach, he is an almost certainty to get outcoached.

Has it really come to this? You now draw a comparison between one fo the greatest college coaches in history, and Pearl?

This reminds me of Dumb and Dumber. I just can't figure out if your Harry or Lloyd.

revisted over a year later:

when given a chance to give an early opinion on Golden, Dennis Miller chose instead to rant about Cortney Fortson. threads like this are why people like to discredit him. the post asks for opinions about Golden but the guy stomps his feet and flails his arms as he tries to discredit Pearl for simply recruiting a guy , not singing him.

Ever think that might be because I had already commented on Golden many times before? Oh, wait. I could have stopped after the first two words of the question and had my answer. Carry on.

You have used this exact insult at least twice. Goodness.

I wonder if he's kept an index. If so, maybe he has a screen shot of the notorious and wrongfully deleted Truck Stop Bathroom/Bologna Sandwich rant.

That was my favorite post of the year.
