Pearson Down! Keeeeerrrrraaaappp!

The Vols do have quality depth at both wide receiver and tight end, where they endured nasty-looking injuries to junior college phenom Von Pearson and freshman tight end Ethan Wolf against Arkansas State. Pearson tweeted out it would be a "minor setback," and a couple of different program sources indicated Pearson might not be as seriously injured as initially feared.

Wolf, whom one former Vol player already said looks like he possesses NFL potential, absorbed an even more eye-closing, stomach-churning hit to his knee. But optimistic word inside the Vols' locker room was that Wolf's injury would be only a "knee contusion," and he told UT personnel he was OK when he walked off the field at game's end --- without crutches or ice on the knee.

Good news. Wolfs injury didn't look that bad from the TV angle, but it looked like a positive Lachman's test on the field, which would mean ACL tear. But really you'd have to check the other leg to get a conclusive result.

Really need this guy in SEC play.

Looked like a negative Lachmans to me...
It's hard to see from the angle but looked solid to me....

The Monavi test looked ok too.

bad news though..I heard he failed the litmus configuration

Yeah, you just confirmed you do bed pan duty. Thank God you don't do more than that to sick people.

Or you would understand that swelling causes pain, and radiology personnel typically wait 24-48 hours for swelling to go down prior to doing an MRI. Due to the discomfort of a patient having to be on the MRI table for an extended duration of time...

But please, feel free to continue showing you know nothing about medicine or radiology...

Otherwise everyone would have MRI's done the same day, I wonder why every MRI is done the following day at the earliest...

Please tell me 1 time, just one, that you've seen a knee injury diagnosed via MRI same day, just 1...

Mri has nothing to do with swelling. It has to do with ODG and other ortho guidelines and it only done to identify a meniscus or ligament injury if the physical tests/symptoms proclude suggest that's what occured due to knee movment, clicking and/or pain.
Wolf won't be having an mri, so it appears your dead eye from the bench was not as keen as you think it is.

Says who? He's still scheduled for an MRI tomorrow...

So his swelling from an acl tear you say he has will be down enough tomorrow for an mri?
Didn't you just say they don't do mris due to swelling? Acl tear today will look like a balloon tomorrow. Make up your mind.

Please, tell me when you've ever seen an MRI done same day, again, just 1.

Could be high school, college, NFL, NBA, hockey, anything. Tons of options, just give me one...

Thats not ortho protocol dude. If you want to change it, go to school and do a study. Mris are done later because:
-once some swelling is down so they can do a full test with their hands and test stability, extension, flexion, lateral and medial give. If the symptoms are there for a possible sprain or meniscus tear, they will do one.
-mri machines are often 1-2 million dollar machines with specifically trained people to operate them and certain reimbursements for the owner. They aren't on 24 hr call and the machine is often part of a large ortho clinic or owned by the hospital or another entity.
-They don't wait on mris because it's too hard for a player to keep his knee still as you stated. That's just flat our inaccurate.

Please tell me you didn't just mention swelling as the reason they wait...

For their protocol tests ... , not because it's too painful for a player to keep his leg still.

And stop embarrassing others in the medical field, but since you said you wouldn't post anymore if he had no tear, I guess you are already on your way out.
Next time you guarantee something, make sure you know wtf you are talking about.

MRI depends on the swelling, typically within 24-48 hours.

This was my post that started this, and everyone jumped all over me for saying it.

And then Tada, you come in here and verify what I said, while attempting to call me an idiot...

Bump for his reasoning that mri's are delayed. My 12 yr old knows the reason above is inaccurate.

Apparently you being an idiot is currently trending. From everything being reported, Wolf is not out for the year. So your diagnosis from seat AA12 seems to be off.

We've told several patients they should wait a few days prior to having an MRI due to swelling...

We've also used the wording, "the MRI process can take as long as 45 minutes depending on the severity and the procedure, and you'll need to be able to stay completely still for the duration of the procedure"

What exactly do you do in the "medical field?"

Receptionists now communicate instructions to patients?
