Penn St job coming open

Penn State fans would go apeshat if JF was hired. I hope it happens, but I'm thinking they will go with GS and feel like they won the lottery.

I listen to CBS Radio Charlotte, and the main morning host is a PSU guy. He is hoping for JF.

I actually could see this happening. Franklin to Texas is asinine.

Why? It's common knowledge that he is on Texas' short list, and the top guy on their list (Jimbo Fisher) ain't happening. I'm not saying it's a given, but asinine? Hardly.

JF would be dumb to not jump at the PSU job. He better go while he's hot before he becomes the next Dan Mullen

Munchak is under contract, which means he can't leave for Penn State. Titans would have to fire Munchak for that to be possible.

Paul Kuharsky said so, at least, so there's a possibility it's wrong.

I heard PK say this too. What I don't understand is how it's enforceable? All coaches are under contract, yet leave, that's why they owe money. Wonder what makes Munch's different.

I think it will ultimately be Briles at the other UT. He coached high school ball in Texas and has been at Baylor for a while and knows the high schools there like the back of his hand. I know he just signed a 10-year extension, but that's chump change if Texas wants him.

I know a few PSU people. JF seems to be their choice. Personally I think JF would do well there and challenge OSU and Michigan in a couple of years.

I think he would be better than Golden or Schiano

Why would Munchak be a good choice for PSU? Franklin has proven to be a pretty good recruiter and motivator. We know that Munchak can't motivate his players for **** and probably can't recruit either.

I'm pretty sure the hall of fame next to his name will probably do a lot of the recruiting for him. That's all those kids want is a coach who can get them to the next level and what better person to do that than a guy who excelled at the next level and is in Canton. Plus, he's an alumni and Paterno guy, which will probably sell very well there. Don't like Munchak, but always found the whole can't motivate players to be a bunch of BS. Those guys get paid millions of dollars - that should be motivation enough.

I don't see PSU taking on a coach who is in the middle of a rape investigation...Franklin will move on to a bigger program but PSU is not going anywhere near him

Get out of here with the talk that Schiano is worse than Franklin, don't let his NFL tenure fool you.

Franklin did not recruit most of his best players the past 3 seasons and the gang rape prosecution continues. Nobody in their right mind would hire him.

The problem with PSU hiring Franklin is he would be out the door the first chance he got, and that's the last thing they need right now.

He had best get out of vandy while he can! The sec east is not gonna be down much longer! And he will get exposed!

What does any of that have to do with his coaching ability at the collegiate level?

Nothing, but it's all about what the kids respond to in recruiting and I can imagine if a guy who is in the NFL HOF walks into your house and says I know what it takes to get your son to the NFL that would have to be pretty impressive.

I am munchak's biggest critic but he is a (barely sub) .500 coach in the NFL which is 20+ more wins, at the highest level of his profession, than most candidates.

He is an NFL hall of fame player, played under the greatest coach of that schools history, which means something to fan (us with graham), and he will have a staff that has recruited before and will make sure everything is done exactly as needed.

I am personally hoping they hiring him because I want a different titans coach. But in a list featuring James Frankin, Greg Schianno, and Al Golden, Mike Munchak stacks up as well as the rest with him resume alone.
