Penn State scandal (merged)

Questions & Comments Regarding The Penn State Scandal | Saturday Down South

My biggest problem with this scandal – and in my opinion, this is a point not being discussed enough – is that Sandusky was reported for inappropriate sexual conduct with a young boy in 1998. Not only did local police, but also the Penn State campus police were involved in this investigation. You can’t tell me that Joe Paterno didn’t know about this. The man who ruled the school and town almost single-handedly. The town is small, very small, and yet the police were investigating the heir to Joe Pa’s throne and one of the highest profile coordinators in the country and Joe Pa didn’t know about it? That’s crap.

The reason this is so disturbing is because even if the 1998 investigation seemed to come up empty – and I don’t think it did considering the odd retirement of Sandusky in 1999 in which he sort of quietly left the college football scene – then when Mike Mcqueary witnessed what he witnessed in 2002, this incident should have received insane attention simply because there was already a reported incident in 1998! Joe Pa listens to what Mcqueary says he witnessed while knowing about a previous incident in 1998 and yet doesn’t go nuts about this? Yes, Joe Pa has serious explaining to do.

This article has some good points.

I'm still trying to find out who gave him access to the building, who signed that contract."

probably will change is tune then.

LOL Keep dreaming, it wasnt Paterno, unless you think Paterno was at the center of the cover up and the deal with the DA and cops which is pretty hilarious. There's never been even so much as a report that Paterno has been seen in public with Sandusky since the 98/99 incident. You folks have quite the imagination. Hey wait, I bet Paterno murdered that DA too! lmao

What do you think you are accomplishing by adding "lol," "hahahahah," and "lmao" to every post?

I had nosebleed tix for the Titans for the first few years. We played Pittsburgh in a huge game, and I saw him in the bathroom at the stall next to me after the 3rd quarter. Needless to say, I was a few $5 beers in (they are $8 now) and said, "Franco freaking Harris? what the hell are you doing way the hell up here. He said, "these are the best tix I could get". I said, "That sucks man, you are Franco Harris!" He said, "no, I'm Franco ****ing Harris and it does suck".

Poor Franco

Fine. Which comment was anything but blind support. His contention that the BoT knows nothing is idiotic. They know more the he does and it was enough to fire the guy.

LOL He is making no such contention, can any of you people read? The board publicly stated "we dont have any more information than has been reported in the press."

The fact is, Paterno was fired in the midst of this insane ****-storm for no other reason than it was in the best interest of the school. Oh wait, thats what they said! You dont know if there was some other compelling reason, and you certainly dont know if he was fired for cause. I seriously doubt that since Paterno was in total compliance with school bylaws in his report to the AD. Basically, you guys dont know jack****, and you absolutely dont know more than Harris.

Should have asked him if he wanted your beer.
No really you can have it.

maybe he was fired because he admitted knowing one of his friends was using the PSU locker room to molest young boys (or fondling or doing something of a sexual nature to a young boy if you prefer that to molest)

I think this is now the third time he's been shown that. He simply dismisses it like you didn't put it up there.

Speculation. You don't know the exact verbiage used in the conversations.

unless I happened to take the quote directly from the grand jury report. But of course they didn't discuss it with Franco Harris beforehand so I'm sure they're just mistaken

Sorry, I forgot where I'm supposed to take this argument next. Will defer to therealUT when he gets back from lunch.

OMG, so he was fired for telling the Grand Jury what he told the AD in 2002. Yeah, that makes a lot sense.

And you're taking some liberties with the use of the term "friend" arent you? I'm not doubting the two were friends right up to 98-99, but since they've never been seen in public together since then thats quite a stretch to imply they have maintained any kind of friendship.

He wasn't fired by the AD.

Funny, just a guess but I'd say what Harris has to say on the issue carries more weight than the BOMB Barry Switzer dropped in the press yesterday, which was nothing but long distance speculation.
