No matter what UT has tried to do in the last 6-7 yeats it ain't working. We've had 4 coaches 5 years and none have set a foundation to build on. Even Ole Miss and Miss St have shown improvement and made bowl games. Even vandy. It's valid for our frustration. Even Auburn has a coach headed in the right direction. Even if he loses 5 games next year he is got a solid foudation. If we can get a system to believe in then we would feel better. I think the fact that we never get a proven coach or up and comer says something. We always get our 5th choice.

I totally understand that frustration. It's been a brutal 6 or 7 years stretch all the way back to the waning days of Fulmer. It's not fair, however, to lay this frustration on a first year coach and his staff. I would argue also that the current recruiting is easily considered the beginnings of a solid foundation. Not the year we all expected or wanted, but it's too early to bail on this staff over the failures of the past staffs.

Exactly...that is why we are where we are at.

Regular season '13

Ole Miss - HC 2nd year going 7-5
Miss St. - HC 5th year going 6-6
Vandy - HC 3rd year probably going 8-4
Arkansas - HC 1st year probably 3-9
Auburn - HC 1st year going 10-2?
UK - HC 1st year probably going 2-10
UT - HC 1st year probably going 5-7

You wouldn't consider Butch Jones an "up and comer"?

Also on the Auburn thing...think of it like this. What if Cutcliffe left after 1998 NC season and PF was canned in year 2000? Then Cut comes back in 2001. He would probably have a similar record as Auburn.

Malzan's foundation was started a couple of years ago with a highly ranked recruiting class as ours is starting with this years class.

Oh my bad, We've had a great run over the past 6 or 7 years. I completely forgot that we beat Wisconsin 21-17 in a bowl game that year. I'm not frustrated anymore:crazy:

Didn't say we had a great run. It seems many of you fans tend to forget about the 2007 season that saw the Vols go 10-4 and end up ranked #12..or the 9-4 season before that..

Seriously? You and I are in agreement most of the time but I feel like the intensity has been gone from the program since 2003. There have been some good years in that time span but for the most part it has been uninspired underachievement. Great recruiting up until the final years though. At least that kept UT competitive for the most part. Just my opinion.:peace2:

Didnt seem like that from the stands I was sitting in...nor did it seem that way from the bemoaning Wisconsin fans.

Badger fans were having a good time. Best part of that trip was New Year's Eve on the beach.

It's the people running the show. Hamilton was just a scape goat. They're still there.

I'm not sold on Butch or his Past! He beat some crappy teams at Cincy to pad his win totals. Didn't see many teams reaching for the check books to hire his staff away either.

That's how we roll here. We have crappy leadership, it's been that way since Dickey left.

You don't think BJ was an up and comer who had proven himself at both of his previous stops?

This is so much a "I want it all and I want it NOW" attitude. Guess what that only happens in the movies! This nightmare didn't start yesterday and it will not end tommorrow. Patience young one, patience!
