Per UK President Lee Todd...

We all know he is going to say that he will continue to be evaluated and is just doing fine in building the program back up... no surprise.

He is gone. I have no idea why they are waiting that long. I think both sides want out of this relationship. It hasn't ever worked.

That's actually what one of the more reliable members of the UK media, Larry Vaught, is saying. He says the meeting last Friday the university president referenced tonight went something like this:
Barnhart: Billy, President Todd and I think you really need to address a number of off the court issues if you're going to return next year.
BCG: If you think that, I think I need to know what you're going to offer me as a buyout and I need to get on the phone and get involved with the Alabama or Arizona job.

Hat, I would agree. As many of the UK guys I know here, that are tied to the program, dont agree with BCGs off the court issues. However, they do not want him coaching in the SEC...and I agree. KYs fan base (I know I live amongst it) is so Rabid, it makes it hard living here. I go to lunch and no matter where I go its always the talk around the tables.

No but really Hat. Do you think he is gone or not?
Haven't talked to anyone this week who would be in a position to know much about the situation. The couple of coaches I've talked to can't imagine that BCG was receptive to the idea of becoming a media friendly backslapper. I can't imagine why you would wait til Friday to make an announcement if you're bringing a coach back, considering the meeting between BCG, Barnhart, and Todd was last Friday.

If Gillespie is fired, where do you see him going? Bama seems to be set with Grant, and I'm not really up with any job openings. I'm guessing Georgia and Arizona would be high on his list?

Hat, Other than off court issues is there any reason to fire CBG? And they don't have a big name already agreed to take over I think this is a big mistake.

How often do you hold a press conference or make an announcement to state someone is keeping their job?

Why Arizona would want him I do not know. But I guess he can try.

IU held one to announce Coach Knight was being retained, subject to a "zero tolerance" policy. Of course, he violated said requirements and was fired a couple of months later.

And they're still paying for it.

Yea, I'm not saying it does not happen. Just that it is not the norm or expected result.
